Situation is a high spec TV that has not had the manufacturer provide update applets for all the services available over the internet in the UK.

e.g. iPlayer, NetFlix, 4OD, ITV Player, YouTube, Vimeo.

User is not very happy with tech but is full of opinions about video quality.

Thanks!

Check out now tv.

price wise I would say the chromecast at the moment as it can be had for about £19 but then you need a phone/tablet to use it.
but I prefer the Roku boxes as I like to have a remote but they are dearer

Depends which channels you want but the £30 Chromecast is fairly good and with a Netflix sub you have BBC iPlayer,Youtube,Google Movies etc too

Alternately wait for the soon to arrive £50 Roku TV which has the advantage of its own remote

get showbox on your phone and cast it to your tv

You still need a device or at least a supported app to cast it to

Yeah Now TV is awesome (or use an xbox)

Thanks all. Not wanting to become unpaid tech support !again I will suggest the Now TV box. It seems simple enough but I guess I end up responsible for the SD "standards" of most TV now...

Thanks again.

NowTV doesn't support competitive services like Netflix
