you need a firewall
you could start with windows firewall or a freeware such as Comodo www.comodo.com

make a list of blocked zones

I would simply recommend Google with strictest filtering and as little unattended browsing as possible.

I would also keep the likes of MSN Messenger off the machine if possible.

Use a virus checker such as AVG free edition for windows xp or vista

Spybot search & destroy

Zone Alarm for a firewall or any other firewalls are good

Nortan Antivirus, and or you can get the internet security version as well

Some have "password" for the password by default.

May be worth a try.

Whatever it is, when you do get in........change login and password to something unique to you......and REMEMBER IT!!!

i know nothing about expired and spam .. honest

when you say "safe for her", i thought it was about filtering internet content she can go into..
not virus, spyware etc which is more to do with internet security..

sorry for the confusion

its so she can go online, go to google and type in something without the worry of something inapropriate poping up, just basically to keep her safe. i already have anti virus, firewall ect on there. some one mentioned net nanny, but there seems to be mixed reviews on it.

if you have norton antivirus or internet secuirty you can put on the add-on pack with parental controls which can act like net nanny and restrict entry to certain sites like pornography or gambling
