that dettol mould stuff is brilliant before you can stop it coming back you need to find out why you have it in the first place

Depends how deep it has gone into the wall, bleach normally works on new mould.

agreed - dettol mould and mildew remover is fab.
Mould is obviously caused by damp conditions. What is the mould on?

fix the source of the mold. its wet or damp for long periods and if mold is growing back repeatedly, you need to sort it out.

Usually a sign of perished plaster.

My room is the same on two walls due to damp getting into the wall cavity.

Op, you talking about on the Walls right?

I got the same problem with my glass of milk under my bed.

Lack of ventilation is a major cause.

You need to find out if it's penetrating damp or if it's superficial condensation dampness.

There are different forms of treatment/advice for each - a very important distinction to make.

Is this your property or do you rent?

we had some paint from B&Q which helped very much - it was supposed to stop mold. You had to clean it first - but it did help

You can't stop stop mould coming through if there is underlying dampness causing it.

It's like sticking a plaster on a tyre puncture.

you cannot stop mould if you dont deal with the cause, paiting over mould will not stop you having mould

Agreed, the cause is usually a mixture of dampness, together with a lack of adequate ventilation.

The most common cases I see of mould are due to condensation on a cold outer facing wall - which isn't dampness. Very difficult to sort out, other than recommending avoidance of certain heat sources, increase ventilation etc

i had a bad patch in the corner of a room, i had i dont know how many people out and noone could tell me where the problem lay and in the edn i had to have all plater removed, wall injected with some stuff and redone, fingers crossed it doesnt come back

we have it in our place badly (its rented) we wash the walls down with detol mould stuff, then dry, bleach again then dry.
we have taken the walls back to the bones, had the walls replastered, which worked for a littlw while but seeing as its the outside wall that is shot and there is nothing in the wall cavity. it soon came back not quite as bad.
You really need to sort the cause out or its just a circle of cleaning off every few weeks.
Sadly my landlords will not sort the outside wall out

dettol mould and mildew remover works well.
If you prefer a chemical free method, try tea tree oil in water

Try Astonish mould remover from SAVERS....It worked for me. Not even a quid...99p :P

all this talk about expensive dettol etc

Just put some thin bleach (about 8p for 2litres) in an old spray container. Just as effective.

then get a damp proofing company in to check the wall for water penetration.
