What if you don't know who the car belongs to?

Sod the law, get 3 mates and bounce it out of the way

knock on the surrounding houses to see if they know, if nobody does call the police and get them to tow it

I think its basically this;
It is not an offence to block someones drive if there is no vehicle parked on the drive and they have no garage.

It is an offence if you are parked on the drive. This is because they are blocking your emergency exit from the property. The garage part counts because you do not know if there is a vehicle inside and the garage counts as part of the drive.
Phone the police (not 999!) and ask.

if you need it moving asap then id knock on a few doors, if not maybe leave a polite note on the window saying please dont park here again as your blocking entry to my garage.

As far as i know, if you have a dropped kerb, you can have them towed. saying that, by the time the police get to yours to do anything about it, they'll have probably moved anyway.

The car isn't needed till the morning but I always worry that if there is an emergency The car may be needed and it can't be used.

Thanks for all the comments I guess I will wait for now.

So your car is on the drive? Phone the police.

i thought it was common knowledge not to park over someones drive tbh, they dont know when or what time you may have to leave your drive ( god forbid if it was ever an emergency ) so i would say they are so wrong to do this and leave a note on windscreen politely explaining this .........ps is this a regular occurrence or a one off btw

My guess is it is someone who lives close or is visiting someone close. They may know that you dont usually move your car at this time.
Doesnt make it right though.

btw op arnt you dog_cops other half ?.....carnt he sort it out

I think you're legally entitled to smash the crap out of it. Don't quote me on that though

Its a car blocking the drive not a dog

Best spelling ever.

My parents have rung th epolice several times as people keep on blocking their driveway then walking into town to save on parking costs. They get ticketed (because it's also a yellow line), but they still keep doing it. The police seem happy to keep coming out, but obviously it's not a priority so don't expect them to come immediately with sirens on to track down the nuisance neighbour who was just dropping a parcel off then got chatting and had a cuppa.

Is more or less the correct answer!

we have an old couple opposite us who have a dropped kerb.. and a garden full of plants with a fence around the border. the kerb is dropped.... but there's no drive(!)-yet, dare to park on that dropped kerb and they get a right cob on. they look out of the window to ensure nobody parks on it, and on occasions when i have had to- they've knocked on our door asking us to move it, as well as leaving a note reminding us not to park there again.

i called council to enquire, andgoonieman (above) is spot on.

We used to just block them in and then just leave the car for a few hours.

Ive done this, i jam it in eather side, my bro and sis help and make them come to the door to ask

i have also erm covered their car in flour...what the flour burst just as i was lugging my shopping past the car...i usually dont have to lug it as i can usually park on the drive

there was a persistant offender, i threatned to jump up and down on his bonnet in my sharpest heels if he did it again

i wont even start with the vicar incident

Sorry bout that, will move it soon.
