Short and simple. What IS the point of pets? All they are is expensive to keep and hard work to maintain. Why bother? And then, in a few years, they just die.

Yeah, they are wet too. I can't stand the idea of them puking and pooping and shedding hair.

because human beings are caring?

With kids they can be conditioned to take care of you when you are old and incontinent, a cat won't do that for you.

i thought the same too, they just seem extra for no reason, like a goldfish u just stare at it loool

I have two dogs. I love them but they do serve a purpose - I know that with them in my house no-one would even think of breaking in. Also, they keep my feet warm and make me laugh at least once every day. They brighten up my life and make my house into a home.

Ask a silly question......

The dog gives my dad someone to blame his farts on.

That's a bit harsh after half a million squids average in raising you.

whats the point in threads?

Answer to OP. What's the point in pets?

If you have to ask, then you can't have a pet ..

..... and there's no point what-so-ever in describing the wonderful interaction between a pet and owner.

But if you ask, why do you have a pet? The answer is as various as there are pets and owners. For me, I can respond as a dog owner that they are a completion of life and a joy who give unstinting fellowship and are wonderful companions, who never judge and work only on the basics of body and word tone.
You can trust your dog totally.

+1

i thought the same. Didnt understand why people got so upste when watching vet programmes.

Then got a rabbit for the kids and now shes apart of the family and i can understand why people love their pets so much. Also for young kids it teaches them a lot about how to care for something which is reliant on humans.

Nice thought and I sort of know what you're saying but I know that it's not true.

Dogs do not 'love 'you , they are pack animals and act in an appropriate way , which is predicated upon fairly simple rules.
Humans are a lot more complicated but generally family bonds are strong; parents love their children etc. Often that love is much more unconditional, in that the parents get nothing back.
