What is there to do in Surrey?

Banned
Hi

Going on a little journey down to Surrey to see family in a few weeks. Were planning to take the girls to legoland (dreading the crowds already :-( ) apart from that i have no idea what to do!! We may be able to get hold of a friends merlin passes, if so we will be going to Thorpe Park too, fingers crossed!!
Does anyone have any other recommendations?

Thanks :-) Rep waiting for helpers

They may have been lucky. Sometimes you can put the Merlin pass through the gate machine like a normal ticket - then no-one checks the photo. More often now they have people at the gates scanning the passes separately. (Had Merlin passes for years and years as I live in Surrey and close to Chessie and Thorpe)

There's a Go Ape at Alice Holt Forest just south of Farnham. Worth a visit if the kids are old enough (about 8+).

Chessington is a lot better than Thorpe Park if the kids are under 1.40 metres. Thorpe is aimed at teens upwards now.

thanks for that, they are both very young

I went to them both loads when i was younger but i cant remember them clearly now

Our kids (aged 7 and 9) thoroughly enjoyed Bird World, near Farnham.

If you go, try to catch the "shows" they put on throughout the day - clever birds flying etc.

It's fun and educational, too.

If you go Legoland, it is well worth paying for a Q-Bot (£10 pp)
And there is a really good water play area where they will get soaking wet so take their swimstuff/change of clothes - just thought I would tell you as we were disappointed the first time we went and didn't know about the swimsuits and the Legoland shop there were asking £25 for a swimsuit :w00t:

Are there any good clubs in Surrey (Guilford)?

I had a look at Surrey Uni the other day and I liked it. Just want to know what's poppin' if I deicide to go thur.

I know, they take the mick - the water place is outside the entrance of the swimsuit shop  but £25 for a swim suit and £15 for a pair of shorts for my son, that's an extra £40 when they have them at home! I had to leave it but since that visit I have been on a mission to inform all Legoland visitors to bring swimming stuff! :giggle:

Also, the Q-Bot - we have annual passes now which I bought with the intention of going as often as we want for free, but I don't think I would go without the Q-Bot which for us is £40 a time. You don't get to jump the queues with it, but you can reserve one ride a t a time and you can do what you want instead of standing in line - like playing in the water park!

I can vouch for polsden lacy as my dad worked there for about 20 years.

You can do walks in the grounds from 1 1/2 miles to 10 miles long.
