Looking for a few places to take the kids over the holidays. So would like to know where people like and why.

I havn't been to many myself. I think blackpool,Rhyl & Weston are the only three I have ever been too.

Brighton - you could spend a week there and not get bored. So much to do around the area.

Probably St Tropez.

The ones in this country aren't all that.

Skeggy or Blackpool used to really enjoy them when I was a kid

Weymouth was alwyas my favourite as a kid - has got a lovely beach there, and reasonably close to other seaside places along the south coast if you want to visit those too!!

I disagree. I think we've got some of the best beaches in the world here. just not got the climate to enjoy them all year round.

Scarborough or BRidlington. Great sandy beaches, nice family feel - no groups of yobs. Lots to do - the speed boat trips from the harbour are fantastic. They're not far from York - which is always great for a visit, and flamingo land puts alton towers to shame. Whitby is also great, but not so much to do for children.

But they're so inelegant and I'm not that keen on the people that tend to frequent them.

Yes, unwarranted snobs tend to keep away, which is fantastic for the rest of us.

Is that before or after they built the lap dancing clubs?

Tenby is the best!

Nothing unwarranted about it. I don't tend to think I'm a snob either - I recognise I'm fortunate to enjoy nice beaches.

Will be there next week. My mate owns a pub there

Years since I was there but area between bournemouth and Paignton is nice. Think it was paignton with large boulder type rocks and red sandstone cliffs and sandy beach. Great for kids.

Wow, which one?

Used to enjoy Blackpool as a kid but it's been a long time since there,20 yrs...

Margate is dump, rest of Thanet on coastline not great either.

Went to Brighton a couple years ago,was ok.

Might try Southend sometime.

Blackpool is best when it rains or the sun goes down. The town is not looking its best right now.

I disagree, Botany Bay, Walpole Bay, and Joss Bay are excellent Blue Flag Beaches and have good rock pools for kids, clean sand etc, Margate may not be the greatest place in the world but it is not that bad, like any town it has its problems.

One of the best beaches I have been on in the UK is near Lossiemouth, north side of Scotland. fantastic when the weather is nice (which is more often than people think).

Out of the country, it has to be in Cyprus somewhere, take your pic of any of the beaches.

Guernsey - big, sandy & quiet beaches. There's a great campsite at Le Vaugrat who do pre-pitched tents as well as bring your own pitches. It's within walking distance of a great beach.

Book your ferry via the site - they do the best deal.

Check your satnav covers the Channel Islands. Some don't (Especially some TomToms  )

Whitby or
South shields.

I live in Kessingland which is a couple of miles outside Lowestoft, the beaches in this area are fabulous, very family friendly and well worth a visit

The problem with beaches in this country is they just look tacky. We seem to have exported it to parts of other countries to, like Spain or wherever 'package' holidays go.

I can't be the only person who likes to holiday somewhere away from British people:?

we have been to Bournemouth a lot and its pretty nice but i love st ives its beautiful x

cant beat LOOE in cornwall
