    What qualifications do you need to be a HR person?

    Worked for the railway in the HR department from 22/07/1991 - 08/10/1999.

    Studied 1998 - 1999 a 1 year CIPD course the railway paid for it

    is it easy to break into hr. At the moment Im a graphic designer. would u recommend me doing a yearly course? Would I be considered at the moment for a HR Role. From what i can see it doesnt look like a specialised job (no offence )

    I joined the railway when I was 16.

    I started as an apprentice and worked my way up over the 8 year's.

    I got 10k redundancy money in 1999.

    Look at the jobs advertised they will tell you what qualifications or experience you will need.

    To be in HR:

    1. You need to be a heartless, evil, swine devoid of feeling for your fellow man.
    2. You need to display incompetence beyond all reason.
    3. You need to enjoy being attacked by the unions for every decision you make, and you need to be able to defend your position to the death no matter how wrong you're proven to be.
    4. You need to learn never to write anything down so you can later change your mind and deny all knowledge of ever having said such a thing.
    5.....Well you get the idea.....Basically you need to be a total **** and have the intelligence of a root vegetable.

    I was just going to post something similar so you saved me the effort!

    One at my last place was also a terrible gossip, not a good quality for the type of job she has.

    There's a huge difference between a Recruitment Consultant, someone who works in a recruitment department and a Human Resources "person"!
    A Rec Consultant is a cold hearted idiot who just cares about themselves!
    A HR "person" deals with all HR issues such as pay and benefits, sick leave, employment law etc etc.
    If you want to get into HR, I suggest looking at entry level jobs (bear in mind these are going to be 13-14k a year so really low paid stuff) and work your way up. If you're really serious and have the cash, look into doing your CIPD or at least certain modules.
    Unfortunately HR is also very saturated and therefore you're not going to get a high paid job with no experience! If you've got no soul and you're willing to work 14 hours a day and stab people in the back, go into a recruitment consultancy

    I just can't imagine anybody willingly joining the harpies in our Human Remains department!

    My HR department were great, stopped me from getting moved out of my job because i dared to fall pregnant.

    I got a degree in HR Management - total waste of time. Did it get me anywhere in the field ... did it ****. Go for something more specialised where the money is. HR is saturated too.

    They get a bad press due to a small number of people who are rubbish at their job!!

    I don't work in any company..........just myself. It's just previous places, just one of those things i guess.

    Maybe I will go for that hr job at our place they sound just like me !!!
