What ridiculous situations have you been put in at work during this pandemic?

My company have decided to take on new starters on Monday to share my van! We’re we’re originally told they were getting their own van and could follow us around, Im assuming they realised that would cost money and now they say they are putting up a plastic screen in the middle of the van and I have to share a small 2ish metre cubed space for up to 4 hours a day! Never mind sharing all tools and having nothing to disinfect with!

Money comes before Health & Safety or your life.
What job are you in, are you in contact with elderly, vulnerables? And more importantly, does the other guy reasonably lives a self-isolated life, to reduce contact with other people, like you?
Do you work for a large company ? To be instructed to work under these conditions, is clearly not right. Does it take 2 people to do your job, or are you training the other person ?
We have confirmed cases of corona where I work, staff get ppe but it doesn’t stop the spread as more cases have happened. But residents still need looking after

if your your not happy with your situation complain, if they do nothing then have some balls and refuse, or phone in and say you need to self isolate..

I’m a gardener, I don’t come into contact with a lot of people at work other than petrol stations to fill my van, I have no idea about the other guy as I have never met him.

Yes it’s nationwide, it doesn’t take 2 people to do it at the moment because some customers have cancelled or lots of sites aren’t as busy. But their contract with customers says 2 people will attend! I will also be expected to show him how to use equipment as he has zero experience.

I have already self isolated for a week(I live on my own) because I got back from Spain 3 weeks ago! I got statutory sick pay which doesn’t cover my bills.
May be time to think about setting up on your own/own business?
Looked online and advice given ( for Scotland ) regarding community services such as gardeners and window cleaners, providing they are working alone, can continue to work. Don`t know about elsewhere. 2 m distancing would be impossible in a van. Maybe speak to your manager regarding travelling alone. There was a big issue with building sites on the news. Government cracked down on them.
Shorter commute now to the next room, otherwise pretty much the same just more talking to a screen instead of a face.

I would have thought only one person attending in the present crisis would likely be covered by the typical force majeure clauses you''d expect to find in a contract.

Surely they could at least pay cost for one or other of you to drive your own private vehicle, and make some instructional videos on using the equipment, a screen is not going to work, and they would need to isolate the van's ventilation system to prevent the air circulating between you and the passenger.

Thank you, the air vents were the thing I was going to cling to, but knowing this company, the screen will be woefully inadequate anyway!

As gardeners, how can you share tools and van on different jobs, drop off the other person and then pick up later? I presume risk is how the other person is, lives like a loner now or still socialising.

I suppose I will have to wait and see on Monday what he is like!
Well good luck to you and stay safe.

If it's a she and anything like this, rip out that plastic screen.

Making coffee for the boss

our manager keeps having morning meeting with about 12 of use in one meeting room, tells us to all come together to watch some social distancing slides on tv screen , what a complete idiot he is.

They are a lot more likely to look like this! They do most years!

Every time I go into work I'm put into a ridiculous situation. Working in the NHS and not getting tested.
Just wondered if all went well. Lots of comments here so maybe an update please.
