What Sat Nav would you choose?

Ok guys, I'm probably receiving money for my Xmas to purchase a new Sat Nav for my work (dot com driver)

I'm needing some solid good advise please, which device should I get? Is there any of them that possibly have an SD card slot so Ivan download maps instead of paying for them, altho that isn't important.

I like the new lane guidance system and also if I can't get passed a road for example the device will calculate a different route

Prob have about £100-120

Cheers

  2. Sat Nav

Oh and what version would be the best

Wre have the TomTom touch, very easy to use, finds route quickly, Re calculates, also you register for free on the website and you can download updated maps and voices for free. Think it was just under £100

Is that pretty standard 'touch' there isn't a touch v1 etc?

Does that have the lane recognition ?

Hmm

Stick to Tomtom?

Go for a Garmin WAY better than tomtoms. Free traffic updates for life etc.

Which ones though?

Which ones though?

The Garmin's consistently beat the tomtoms in the Which reviews now

Something like the 255W is a decent value and reliable model. Depends on your budget really. You can pay extra for bluetooth/MP3 player features etc but you may not need these features. Garmin customer service is excellent too, when mine broke they replaced it by return of post.

Tesco dot com driver I assume ? Me too, or relief one anyway ! We have Garmin ones we can use although I use my TomTom One v3. My TomTom is reasonably outdated but it's much better then the Garmin I find, the Garmins we have anyway. If you go for a TomTom I would suggest you go for one with IQ Routes and Lane guidance, mine doesn't have either but it still works brilliantly. Sat nav doesn't always get you where you want to be so be prepared to use your map ! I have a wealth of apps/maps on my iPhone along with the TomTom app for when my Sat Nav fails.

Good luck !

Tom Tom? Nah, go for the Garmin, apparently also used by millitary?

Garmin's are good, an alternative but updated maps and modifiable software isn't as widely available.

Yes you can update them but usually for a costs.

So do garmin do lane guidance and re-route ?

I have a TomTom One for sale, has lane guidance, IQ routes, speedcam alerts, and Text To Speech, good condition, 2gb memory card, 50 quid delivered if interested.

I am a multidrop driver in devon, I do between 30-120 stops a day, have used co-pilot (5/10) the thing that lets it down is the driver view.
Garmin(7/10) and owned 4 tomtoms (9/10)
The reason i have owned 4 tomtoms is i sell and upgrade every year. Better than paying for new maps.
My vote is tomtom
