    What small car?

I am looking for a little car for work, something cheap to run and tax etc. I rather like the Daewoo Matiz but can't seem to find the right one for the right price. I only have about 1k-1500 to spend.

What is the best small car to buy? I'm a girl and have no idea.

    Thanks

Ford Ka, Fiesta, Renault Clio, Citroen Saxo.

You can get them really cheap, cost nothing to run and insure.

Ford Ka is a good motor and you're more likely to walk away from it in a shunt than a Matiz !

i have a kia picanto and its brilliant for everything its a little bigger than the ka and matiz but it has all mod cons inside ie cd/mp3 electrics and it is vg on petrol i got the black lx model for 5k
oops sorry just noticed your budget!

I had a Ford KA and I LOVED it, thing is, on occasion, I would use it to pick the kids up from the MIL's after work so the 2 seats in the back aren't enough. Shame.

I'm sick of looking, I just want one to appear on my drive way ready to go!

It will not be my main car you see, our family car is a zafira. Just want something small and cheap. Wish I had the money to get something better. Ideally, i'd like an A Class but it's not gonna happen.

Considered a small motorbike/scooter or do you need to ferry people around?

I need 5 seats so I can pick the kids up in it after work if needed. Plus I drive for half an hour on the motorway to and from work.

Can't see myself on a scooter

lol ok, Ill have a quick check about now.

A lot of forums suggest the fiesta, corsa or punto. Theyre probably your best bets Id say.

A 2.0Hdi Peugeot 306 Meridian. Insurance Group 3, sexy looking car, 50-60 mpg, elec windows all round, central locking and it has automatic windy wipers...you can't go wrong!

Got mine new so cant say how cheap you will be able to get one for, but fiat panda is only a small car, but seems quite spacious inside. Plenty of room in the boot. Quite cheap to run

Never buy a Daewoo, especially the Matiz. You would be safer, faster, and in more comfort walking.

In my experience, a Fiat is a great car for a mechanic, due to the well renound Italian slap-dash build quality.

As mentioned, a Ford KA is a good option at that price range. A diesel Seat ibiza from 2000 ish onwards would be good too, although you might end up with a highish mileage one at that price.

Renault Clio 1.5 Dci Dynamique (80bhp, I would not go for the basic 65bhp)
15" Alloys, Auto lights, Auto Wipers, radio increases volume with speed of car, on board computer
Diesel turbo makes it a very torquey/nippy car
Service every 18000 miles (or 2 yrs), £35 a year to tax, 600 - 700 miles per tank of fuel (Manchester to Oxford I averaged 82mpg, around town you normally get approx 58mpg)
I've had two of these cars, excellent value for money. You should be able to get a 52 plate for about £1500
    Good luck!

If you can get one in within the price range you've got a very good car. Only problem with them though is a lack of leg room in the back if you've got longish legs (I'm almost 6 foot and it's a tight squeeze).

As already mentioned though, Ford Fiesta or Vauxhall Corsa are the usual suspects. But please stay away from a Saxo. If you've got kids to ferry around, you will want them to survive if you ever have an accident. Saxo's have a pathetic safety rating, and after having one for 2 years, it spent about half of that in the garage.

A class only has 4 seats:?

Ignore the Daewoo Matiz jibes, It has a 3 star NCAP rating, no different to similar age Corsa's and Fiesta'sand is made by GM (Vauxhall)My sister got a 51 plate with 67,000 on the clock for £700 before Christmas.

Why is it so hard to find the right car at the right price? I thought it would only take me an hour or so looking on the internet and i'd have found one. Still not sure on what I actually want. It's driving me nuts.
