what are your childs interests, is there anything he/she would like to do?

Ask Mum if she has any ideas?

It's an 8yr old boy, i do have a car, i was hoping to go seaside but obviously not now it's raining :whistling:

And yes i get 8hrs every fortnight so like to make it enjoyable, would do painting but would rather take him out as if he's in he tends to just want to play the computers, which i dont mind for an hour but he wont get off it

Thought about bowling, was thinking about the Trocadero in London, but it means train swapping and not sure i can be arsed with that

dunno what part of the country you're in...

I'd go for southend, mess around at the adventure park and then the sea life centre.

8 hrs a fortnight, is pretty restrictive. Not sure how much else you can fit into that time. Make sure he's well fed and happy by the time he goes home to his Mum ( new comp game perhaps? or something new to wear etc ) helps keep em both buttered up!

    Good luck!

We usually make plans for next contact, and it was going to be seaside and cos the crappy weather i cant do that :x he changes his mind as well if he had his way he'd stay in and play the ps2 where i'm not a computer person.

What makes it worse, is i have to tell me Ex what i'm doing with him when i collect him so it puts me on the spot, i did say in court to her that i would rather to collect him, you know he's safe and carry on with my contact, but no she said i'd like to know what you have planned :x

I think cooking is a great idea - how about pizzas. You can buy bases and then be as wild as you like with toppings. You can make a seinsible one just in case and then let his imagination run riot with his own!

about going swimming then lunch somewhere perhaps let them pick where to go for lunch
or give him a few choices to pick from swimming, bowling or maybe pictures

Went swimming last contact, and because i have a skin condition i cant go in the water yet so had to take my mum with me to go in with him, where i took him they had a bowling alley so might take him there and bowl

He's not really a film person, he says it's boring sitting there for 2 hrs

    dayoutwiththekids.co.uk/

Stick your region in etc,age of child, indoors, outdoors and gives list of activities.

I'd choose an indoor play area if I was out this weekend with the kids, but need to stay in and catch up on things in house.

thats why i reckon take him out, let him enjoy himself, last task of the day- new ps2 game, he'll go home happy

does he get on well with the new step dad?.. just hoping theres a good influence in his life.

i wouldnt mind a few drops of rain so long as he has waterproofs and fresh dry clothing in the car.

have u been to the museum of childhood in bethnal green? my kids love that. The science museum in the city is brill, esp for boys and theres a play area in the basement. Natural history museum? you mentioned the trocadero.. arent they updating it at the moment?

if you go into london eat at the rainforest cafe, kids love it there.

uhm, madame tussauds.. ah ha, london dungeon! he'll love being scared

Trip down the thames, or up in the eye. Tower of london?

How about re-creating the seaside at home? Depends if you know any friends with kids though and could be a bit messy!! Try and borrow someone's sandpit (you might want some plastic sheets down) so you can build sandcastles and just be creative, go for a paddle in the bath, get some ice-creams and cornets in, let him play on his computer for a while which would be like the arcades (but cheaper) but stop and play on a game with him. Just think of anything you'd do together if you were at the seaside and try and think of something similar you could do at home.

My daughter is 8yrs old too which is a sticky age as they're trying to be all grown up (she's 8 going on 18) but she would love to do something like this, a bit of a laugh and I'm sure he'll appreciate it. You could even put your swim things on while you're playing if you want to really get into it, go outside and fly a kite in between the rain or play cricket (obviously I don't know which of these you have but you don't have to do them all).

Use your imagination, perhaps think of things together and enjoy your 8 hours. I can't imagine only seeing my kids for that short amount of time a fortnight but good for you for fighting to see him, he'll SO appreciate it one day.

how about asking him what he would like to do first ?
