What to write in a mobile phone contract cancellation letter

I went in to my local Vodaphone store today and asked them to check when my Vodaphone contract was due to end. I was told it actually ended back in February so I am still with Vodaphone but I am not contractually obliged to stay with them.

I now want to cancel this contract and get another contract that comes with a free PS3. The person in Vodaphone said I need to write to them and give them one months notice but I am not sure what to write, does anyone know if there are any templates about?

Also if anyone knows any sites offering a free PS3 with contracts, please let me know!

Thanks

Just give information they will need (name, address, phone number etc) and say "I am writing to inform you that, as I am not longer tied in to the contract, I wish to cancel and am giving you the required 1 months notice"

you could allways ring them from ur mobile and cancel it that way cant you ?

Just write something really basic.

"Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to give you one month's notice for the cancellation of my contract, as per your requirements. I am aware that I am no longer contractually obliged to continue with this subscription after my 12-month contract, which ended in February 2008.

Please could you confirm, in writing, the cancellation of my account.

Yours faithfully,
"

You could also mention that you would like to transfer this number to a pay as you go. They should just be able to convert your current account to PAYG, possibly sending you a new SIM. That way, you can keep the number for future use.

Apparently with Vodaphone you can't cancel over the phone. Its in their T&C that you need to send them written confirmation. I just tried calling them but they closed at 6pm so I just missed them. I will try them tomorrow but I will get my letter done anyway.

I had this problem a year or so ago. If you have a contract directly with Vodafone you can do it over the phone or in a Vodafone store. I had to write to them as my contract was technically through the Vodafone dept of CPW.

Perhaps you should learn how to spell "Vodafone" before moving on to anything more complicated?

As for your second question, I was thinking of doing the same thing when my vodafone contract expires at the end of the summer. After a bit of digging, www.mobiles.co.uk looked like the best place because they deliver your phone AND PS3 the next day (a lot of places you have to wait up to a month after you get the phone). Also they are part of carphone warehouse so can be trusted, and they offer £30 quidco.
