What was your first car?

Mine was a 1986 (c reg ) fiat 126, 650cc 2 cylinder air cooled in white. Paid about £150 with 12 months mot. Scrapped the car about 10 months later when it kept braking down and upgraded to a yugo 65aglx.

That is the first time in the history of the motorcar anyone has said, ”Upgraded to a Yugo.”

I can't remember the model but it said Matchbox on the underside
One of those little Ferraris you got by collecting petrol tokens. You pulled it back and then it would move forward. You could open the doors and even turn the tiny little steering wheel inside

Talbot Horizon. It had to be the worst car ever made. It refused to go up steep hills and the ball joint that operated the gears popped sometimes.

W reg metro for £250. Totally rotten replaced wing, front and back panels, sills, radius arms floor pans. Plus loads of other stuff I can't remember.

The 1.3 glx model had twin choke Webber Carburettor, full body kit and alloy wheels, and was very reliable motoring.

V reg(1979) Mini 850cc in Tahiti blue, it would do 84mph. I fitted a decent cassette stereo to play Human League and ZZtop. Could have sex in the front if you put it into 3rd gear and seats pushed right back.

I haven’t got one yet but my grandmothers first one was a cheap one with holes in, so everytime she went into a puddle her feet got wet. Then she got another car that didn’t have the same problem.

Mine was a Skoda Favourite, Only had 28k on clock, looked new bought for £150. It was falling apart though, had a fuel leak, brake lights didn't work, closed door handle fell off, adjusted seat and the adjuster fell off. Sold it for £20. Then bought a Vauxhall Cavalier for £200 was much better but had to fill rear arches, was a right mess lol.
My first was a 1962 model Ford Popular 998cc side valve engine. I got it in 1968, same colour as this one 336HP Reg.

A 1987 Astra bought in 1998 for about £500, pinched by some thieving **** less than a year after I bought it. It was actually a decent car, unlike the awful 1990 Maestro I bought to replace it.

Why do they not make brown cars any more? Such a lovely colour. V rev Toyota corolla for me. Got £100 trade in for it a couple of years later.
1977 Chrysler 3000, aka Talbot Alpine.

Great car, I loved it!

Mine was the same as this pic, same disgusting colour!

My first car was a 205 Junior in silver with a 954cc engine and denim interior. It had 17k on it and was like new, however that changed as like most teenage boys in the early nineties we were always in a hurry lol! Just to add this car was responsible for me owning several 205 GTIs of which I still own one now aged 45.
My wife' first car was also a Yugo 65 AGLX. what a beast very heavy steering compared to all modern cars now but had very grippy tyres, and for some strange reason I kind of liked it.
First car

L reg Ford Escort 1.6

Had it 6 weeks before I rolled it and wrote it off!
First car I had on the road was a 1.3 F plate Ford Escort. Boy did I abuse that car. 72k miles in 3 years, only 18k of that for work.

No power steering, leaky sunroof, bloody heavy car to drive...

But just thinking about the amount of fun I had in the back seats......makes it all worth it

A few years later I had another classic colour,
33379517.jpgWith brown interior, £200 from some dodgy car place on tong, you could have kept fish in the boot and footwells until I drilled holes in them.
Edit, just remembered, I went to knowsley Safari park in mine it made me a smile watching all the nice cars getting bits ripped off and me in my 15-16 year old scrapper.

How many dead bodies did it carry? The car matches the book used in movie murder themes.

Yes, it was very popular, I recall seeing me in a brown and white striped pushchair lol, It's probably just me ;). brown was probably a good colour for hiding all the rust ;).

Taking the fact my marina was a 1977 super deluxe (it said so on the log book, I never worked out why) and the fact I was driving it in the mid 90s, I was glad of the rust. Every couple of months out with the masking tape and underseal, the underseal got to the door locks when I scrapped it.

Super deluxe? Does that mean it had the beige velour seats?
I remember my step dad had an Austin Princess, It had massive holes all over so he used a fag pack and some filler to fill them in lol, Those were the days.
Black MK2 Escort, bought it in 87, was a p reg, complete shed but it went everywhere without fault, had it 4 years.sold it to some dubious character and a few months later had police knocking on my door saying it was used to rob a bank in Manchester Not sure how as it was that slow dont think you could get away from a push bike!

My dad had a Ford Anglia estate when we were kids. We used to fight to sit in the boot. Cars held together with fag packets, twenty on the back seat, no air bags or seatbelts, those were the days

Brown velour actually!
And a rear centre pull down arm rest.
They are the only things that could possibly have made it deluxe. I got more producers in that car, usually got followed everytime I went down the 606 to cleck. The police were always at that round stone thing on the entry slip, I once got all the way to spen baths before they turned on the lights and the inevitable 'is this your car sir' all serious (like anyone would nick it)
