What would be best value option for watching sports channels only?

    Hi

I have given notice to cancel my full Sky package as I rarely have time to watch stuff.
Main thing I do make the time to watch is the football.

Can anyone advise the best value option for getting the Sky Sports channels?

Full packages are no use to me as I am tied to BT for broadband.

Appears to me that with the likes of Virgin you cannot simply get the sports channels, you have to buy a load of other crap to go with it.

Another point to consider is our intention to move home in the next few months.

I assume Sky will contact me with one of their "retention" offers which may be the best option, otherwise any ideas?

Have ordered a Now TV box in the meantime as the 3 months of movies essentially makes the box free and could be handy when we move.

Do you know anyone with the sports package?...if so, maybe use their account on the sky go app to watch your sports. Just a suggestion

if you don't mind watching sport on your pc or laptop you could try xbmc media player (search google or YouTube for set up)

I was going to suggest the exact same

Mashup add-on, then go to the live sports icon and look for buzzys sports

Or sign up to offsidestreams.com, £10.99 a month and have he channels, sports (bein/ppv etc) also sky movies, amc, hbo etc. they also have an xbmc add on, stream via the site and/or your iOS device.

Excellent community too, which I'm apart of, so if you see me in the chat, say hi

Meant to say hd channels, damn auto correct.

Linux satellite receiver since you already have a dish in place

Hi, I'm looking at this offsidestreams.com - How long have you been using it? Does it buffer and can you get all games with no problems? Thanks Looks like a great idea!

Yup you can get all the football channels, (Bein/sports world) etc which show games that are not even on sky. I have only had on buffering issue, but that was right at the start of them starting up, since I had no issues and they have added so many channels since the start it's unreal. Because I got in early, I only pay £5.99 now I think it's £10.99, in my opinion well worth the money, plus with BT sports/Box natation which cost about that on there own surely makes it worth well.

Plus you get all the ppv events, some channels even have multi streams (backup streams) also there is a sub site which a community member maintains that list the fixtures each week for the games and what channels they are on etc.
