Whats better entry level 55" 4K TV ? - Samsung 55KU6020 or LG 55UH625V.

Both around same price, both do HDR but 8bit. LG is IPS, Samsung is VA screen.

Any other differences? what better?

Honestly the Samsung is a clear winner, not just because VA panels embarrass IPS but Samsung picture quality in general is a lot better on these LCD's

the one thing the LG has going for it is the ever popular Web OS (very intuitive UI) but honestly you'll be very happy with the Samsung

Cool thanks

Second vote for Samsung. I was ready to pull the trigger on an LG until I found out about LG using RGBW panels that don't technically have a full 3840 rgb pixels across. hdtvtest.co.uk/new…htm

I had the same dilemma all day yesterday, and today I went to take a look... I decided on neither. Instead, the smaller Panasonic 50DX700b was far superior in my opinion, and I was happy to go for that at £599 (plus £75 quidco cashback)
Good luck with whichever you choose.

I've had it with Samsung since my relatively expensive TV developed a fault with the back lighting in the lower part of the panel after only two years and my brother's one, completely different model, developed a similar problem. When I called Samsung's customer support and explained the situation the only answer I got was "We are sorry sir to hear that" and then they hanged up.

You need to go back to the store that you bought it from and tell them about the fault. Under UK consumer law you have a case for a repair/replacement or compensation.

A few years ago I bought a 40inch HD tv from Tesco for £300. At 18 months it started spontaneously turning on and off. I phoned Tesco and although it was outside the 12 month warranty I had a "reasonable expectation that the TV should last longer than 18 months." They gave me £90 to use towards a repair (which I did myself in the end).

The point is, if you've paid for an expensive TV and it lasted 2 years like you say, you DEFINITELY have a case to say that you reasonably expected the TV to last longer than that. If it's an expensive one they may well feel that they want to fix it rather than give you money to try and get an equivalent now.

If they try to fob you off and say you have to contact Samsung, that's wrong. For one thing, you can say you have contacted Samsung and they refused to help, for another, under the sale of goods act the company that sold it is responsible, even outside of the garauntee, and they have to make it right.

Also if you don't get anywhere on that front, go through your credit card, they're also obliged to help, and may be able to get a repair on your behalf.

You're not out of options.

Thanks Darkle, but I did not use a credit card, and now the TV is more than 4 years old, so I doubt Curry's PC World will understand my case. Anyway my problem is with Samsung, is more than just a coincidence that two TVs developed a similar problem in completely different environments.
