Learners license? lol a Provisional License - personally I wouldn't touch any of the big companies such as BSM or AA, i'd much rather go with a good local driver - ask family or friends for recommendations.

True I think I might have someone i n mind, Reason I said Learners is because I was studying to get my actual Driving License in Australia just got back 4 weeks ago so just ajustiing back to it again lol

Yeah don't go with big companies, BSM are awful. Find someone local and most of them do special offers for your 1st few lessons

    Good luck with it

I done some lessons with New Driver, dont know if they are in your area, but first and last lesson is free which is good and block booking discount....

i would go with a local indepedent driver. can't you get any recomendations from someone local?

    Pick a local independant.

Sure, you might get lucky with an instructor from a large company, but it's less likely then when you get a personal recommendation from someone you trust.

Cheapest isn't always best - some instructors don't have to be competitive with other schools, simply because they're good and survive on word of mouth.

I very much agree with all the recommendations to go with a good local driving instructor, he took me at a suitable pace for my ability and I passed my test first time with a small number of lessons. The large driving companies seem to drag people along slowly regardless of their ability and you seem to be paying for a lot of unneeded material.

I went with the AA and they were excellent. I didn't like my first instructor and they changed him for another one without any problems. There are pros and cons to both local and national schools.

AA all the way, get some promotional codes, vouchers etc. I passed first time after 20-25hours and felt really comfortable with the guy.

jamstaruk1972 who did you learn with? As I'm just trying to find a decent instructor in the Glasgow area as well.

When my hubby was learning to drive we chose a local driving school as it was about 5 bucks per lesson cheaper then aa or bsm but after 20 lessons he wasnt learning anything. I bought him a pack of ten lessons at a cheaper rate from AA and he'd passed both tests before he finished them. Told me the intstructor just EXPLAINED stuff way better than the other one. So if you dont feel like you're improving, try somewhere else.
