Whats the best way to take money over to turkey?

Going on holiday to turkey soon, wondering what is the best way to take my money over? Would it be fine in dollars? Sterling or in turkish money? Or take it in travellers cheques?

Lol cheers guys, meaning more currency though going to take it in my socks i think

They love sterling over there, you can either get it exchanged there at a better rate, or just use the sterling, they were giving better deals for sterling. i wouldnt even bother exchanging much

Get it changed over there for a better rate. They use Lira there. I've just come back from turkey last wednesday.

They prefer sterling - you can either use it or exchange when you're over there. Tipping in sterling always goes down well!

If that's a pith take, I'm the sort of person who wouldn't realise and would give it a try - lol.

Get it changed once you are over there. Its commission free and usually offer better rates.

Take a little lira and more sterling, they seemed to prefer that when we went, it's worth more to them!

Um no, it's not a "pith" take! As everyone else has said, that love sterling!

Jealous? Of going to Turkey? Not me

Like I said - I'd rather go to Butlins. And Butlins I a place I'd never visit.

Not sure if it's still the case, but when I was there a few years back you needed to buy a visa on arrival at the airport - you could pay only in cash (most currencies were accepted, including sterling), but you had to give the correct amount, as they didn't give change.
