There's no such thing, the fastest cards are also the most power hungry and most noisy.

Assuming you mean the best performance then the fastest graphics card setup is probably two Radeon 5970s in crossfire. If you want a single card then it's a Radeon 5970. If you don't want to use crossfire then it's a Radeon 5870.

However, they're all Radeons because ATI has just launched their 5000-series and nVidia's response to it isn't out yet (March has been mooted) so it could easily be different in just a month and a half.

Rep for the info. Best answer I got for a while on here

Now.. Do I spend £500+ each on the 5970...

I probably wouldn't slap down that much cash until the Fermi benchmarks are out in the next couple of months...unless you don't mind splashing out another grand to get the best cards again in 2 months time...

That depends on your demands and preferences. What sort of screen setup are you planning to connect it to?

Having owned a high-end graphics card (a 9800 Pro) I wouldn't buy another unless I had a high-end screen to connect it with. These days that means at least a 120hz, 2560x1600 or multiple screens, if you've got a bog standard 2 megapixel 24" screen it's likely to be a huge waste of money.
