Looking for recommendations to burn some videos of the family to a dvd so an elderly relative can play them in their dvd player (they have no access to technology, apart from a dvd player).

Got several mp4 video clips to put on dvd.

Thanks!

Observation: choose the codec for the mp4 content to suit the DVD player.
And slightly off topic: be wary of doing same for anybody having a Panachronic bluray player because for some stated (but undocumented) reason most Panny BR players do not support mp4 container from disc media.

Extremely easy to use and cheap
I use Burnaware software
Imgburn is free, always done what I've needed it to do

I've used Ashampoo Burning Studio for many years and it's always performed admirably. but do use a disposable Email to avoid the inevitable spam.

It sounds like you're not after DVD burning - that's built into Windows and Mac OS these days - but a DVD video disc authoring software.
