What's the going rate for the Tooth Fairy??

Hi guys - junior biscuit has just lost his first tooth! I am just wondering what the going payment magically delivered under his pillow tonight should be?

We used to give my daughter a £1 coin but that was about 5 yrs ago and I'm curious if inflation has hit fairy land!

Anyone with more recent experience can you please advise?

Cheers xxxx

Nephew got £2..... to spend on more sweets! :giggle:

We still give our daughter £1 - she's 8, she actually has a loose tooth at the moment.

I reckon for the first maybe £5 as it is special after £1-2.

when my daughter first lost her tooth, we was at my fathers and she lost it in the garden, my god she was devastated i had to write to the tooth fairy and explain it was in her grandads garden as she reckoned she would come, see no tooth and leave

But back to the original question, mine get a pound

Depends how much time you've got, but we printed out a letter template with a tooth/fairy and added a little personnalised text, saying about how as it was the first tooth and in such good condition (and hoping all the others would be the same) and it was so precious it could be kept. - hence we were able to get away with a couple of quid:thumbsup:

yeah but when we knock them out we feel they deserve the money to silence them

10p or 5p if you have one.

if u gave ur daughter £1, i'd go with £1 for ur son too... else there will be arguements later on. kids wont understand inflation and be happy with wotever they get im sure!!

Dont spoil them give them £1, or give her £5 and watch all their theeth fall out from all the sweets they brought with the £5.

This is the same situation as I've got, the tooth was 'discovered' missing after he was eating a roll, I'm convinced he's swallowed it! :? However he has been appeased with being told the tooth fairy must have came and took it when he wasn't looking and that there will be something under his pillow in the morning, I'm thinking maybe a two pound coin as it nice and big and shiny - am I being miserable?!?!?

Just remember if at some point in the future you start losing your teeth :w00t: Tooth Fairies expect you to leave at least 100x that amount to give some back

Leave him a sparkling new toothbrush & his very own tube of toothpaste & tell him to look after the rest......

Charlie - it's a natural stage for a five/nearly 6 year old and certainly not poor dental hygiene on our behalf - I've never been so insulted - Harrumph!

I'd think thats a pretty reasonable idea, however when daughter lost her 1st tooth Gran and Grandad were visiting and they each snuck money under her pillow, so did myself and mr biscuits - without telling each other  - result - one happy 6 year old!!!

I now have the majority in a little tin thing. Make sure you clean them well first, or they'll go mouldy. I think its a nice thing to do, to keep them, maybe suggest it to your child.

post #17 we think he's swallowed it - there's no way I'm cleaning it when we get it back! :w00t:

The tooth fairy left my son £1 last week, much to his disgust as the tooth fairy that goes to his friend's house leaves £5, lol

i gave my daughter £2 recently because it was reomverd a the dentist and she was very brave, otherwise it would be £1

Banned

i used to try and pull mine out to get the money

So how much did the tooth fairy leave in the end???

It was always £1 in our house as long as it was a healthy tooth - tooth fairy doesnt like bad teeth because she gives them to babies according to my parents!

My son had half of a baby tooth fall out; he said he was going to try & get money for it from the tooth fairy even though we told him that the tooth fairy only gives money for whole teeth.

Anyway, he put the half-tooth under his pillow & woke in the morning to find that the tooth fairy had left him half of a coin:giggle:

(It took me a while to cut the coin in half, but it was worth it to see his face!:giggle: )

Heehee, I remember the times when I forgot to leave anything, lol. Tooth fairy wasn't popular in our house I can tell you. A bit gruesome, I know, but I still have all their baby teeth in a little tin, aww.

My son's tooth fairy has been known to once leave an I.O.U. note:giggle:

The tooth fairy left £2 in the end with advice that he got extra for it being his first tooth, next time it will only be one 'penny' (coin!) He is as proud as punch and happily showing everyone the gap and the payment for it!

i told mine her tooth had to come out before 7pm so i could book a slot for the tooth fairy to visit. in my defence it was hanging out her mouth and if she hadn't pulled it out before bed she would have swallowed it :giggle:

nice thread

I dont have kids - but how easy is it to remove a tooth from under the pillow when they are sleeping?
