What's Virgin like compared to Sky?

On the verge of switching to Virgin media the past few days, anybody recommend?

Don't know anybody who has it so I'm scared to do it!

Considering the XL TV / L TV - is there any point getting the XL... not much difference? I'm currently on the most basic Sky package.

Also the L internet package + the V+ box - works out the same as what I'm paying for Sky (£35.50 per month) though I'm paying for the phone line at the minute and don't need it with Sky.

    Is internet noticeably quicker?

I'm basically torn on whether to buy a Sky+HD box on ebay or somewhere or just switch everything to Virgin!

    Thanks!

Virgin internet is good if you are on cable. I didn't find the tv as good, text is not a full service on virgin

Scared to change lol, don't have movies or sports anyway so might just go for it then. Thanks

yeah if you don't care much about tv then I'd go for virgin, it might be worth hanging on a week or two, quidco is down to £65 again at the moment, but it regularly goes up to £100 - £120ish

I love my virgin broadband btw, i'm on 50meg. and with the modem plugges straight into my desktop i've gotten a speedtest as high as 46, my router bottlenecks it slightly until I upgrade everything to gigabit.

I only have the free TV and I almost never watch that, I get almost all my TV of the internet, and you can even get BBC HD programs on iplayer.

i did get virgin recently, when they offered £160 cash back through quidco. Internet service Is Brilliant.

OH thank god you said that! Will defo wait now, thank you!

I moved from Virgin to Sky HD last November for the HD Channels.

Also moved to Sky Broadband and Telephone.

I never had any problems with Virgin, TV or Broadband (20mg) but with Sky I have lost the TV signal in bad weather, Sky box failed to record numerous times and requires reboot but only after your tv program has failed to record which is annoying. Broadband not as stable as Virgin either.

Virgin has access to More on-demand programs and has BBC I-player too.

I will be moving back to Virgin once my years contract is up.

The experience hasn't been as good as hoped, maybe just my area though.

HD Channels are nice but not worth the digital noise and picture breakup.

    Hope this helps

I wouldnt even bother with any sky / virgin TV pack if you only want basic tv.

just get a humax pvr for about £120 and you'll never run out of enough tv to watch.

then get vm 10mb M BB / telno line rental for about £20 a month
