When ordering from Amazon I notice that a lot of amazon stuff gets sent via indigostarfish, can this deal be allowed as a hotukdeal as it is classed as a separate trader on amazon?

Noticed this which could maybe be a sticking point if someone orders a large item.

Import Duty and VAT

* Indigostarfish.com prices do not include VAT because: (a) the State of Jersey does not charge VAT on products purchased in Jersey; and (b) when products are imported into the UK, VAT is usually payable in the UK by the importer of record (the customer is considered the importer of record in respect of items purchased from Jersey). However, there are special tax and customs regulations that exempt personal imports of 'low value' goods (goods with a value below £18) from import VAT. You can find further information regarding the VAT exemption here. When ordering an item from Jersey, you are acting as the importer of record and must comply with all laws and regulations of the UK. To the extent your purchase does not qualify for the low-value exemption from import VAT, you may be liable for import VAT at the time of delivery.
* For more information about the VAT relief please read HM Customs and Excise guide to Shopping on the Internet.

supermod

Because they are classed as a 'Preferred Merchant' by Amazon, HUKD allow them to be listed as they are covered by the same T&Cs as AmazonUK, unlike the Amazon Marketplace Merchants. They use the same delivery rates etc as the normal AmazonUK site.

I've done a background search on the company name & it appears that they used to be called Amazon Jersey. There's an older HUKD thread with some more information here:

Cheers sigma, have there been any reports of people getting charged vat when the item arrives?

Don't think they sell anything expensive do they?

I've done multi-orders before and they come in separate packages to avoid the VAT issue.

Amazon Jersey was always small items like books, DVD's, CD's etc.
