    When will it end???

    What a weekend I've had :-(

On Friday, I took my little girl into nursery, came out and the Hummer I had parked behind had gone but the front of my car had been crushed. It looks as though the driver didn't see me behind him, reversed up my bonnet and the weight of his gigantic monster of a 4x4 crushed the front of my bonnet and pushed the grill back. Caught him when I went back later to pick my daughter up but he's denying it as his sturdy, built like a brick s**t house vehicle isn't damaged, even though the width of the damage was exactly the same width as the sturdy tyre case on the back of his truck, so I've been left with a squashed front of car to pay for.

Then my landlady from the place I rented until recently is refusing to give my deposit back over made up reasons. fortunately the letting agent agrees with me that she shouldn't be entitled to retain any of it as the place is in exactly the same condition as when I got it, but looks like I'm going to have to fight her for it, which I will

And the final straw was tonight, the neighbours banged on my door to tell me my autistic sons 12ft trampoline was on fire. Apparantly they had seen a rocket shoot over the fence, but what I pointed out to them was there were no other fireworks going off in the area but the ones they were doing in their back garden, and I actually witnessed one explode in my garden and 3 sparks land on what was left of the trampoline, but they deny it was them so my poor little boy has had his favourite thing destroyed and yet again I've been left to foot the bill.

Makes me so cross that people wont accept responsibility for their actions and just assume that the other person has a spouse or partner that will be able to help sort it out/pay, which doesn't actually apply to us all. Bloody inconciderate oafs :x

Sorry to hear that honey- won't yr house insurance cover the trampoline?
You're absolutely right though, some people are hugely inconsiderate, I don't know how they sleep at night :friends:

Damn that sucks, I try my best not to park behind 4x4's because they just tend to not care about anyone else on the road most of the time. like juliet said, claim on insurance for the trampoline.

I was going to look at the insurance but as a last resort really. With my little man being as he is, due to his condition, he's very accident prone and can be quite destructive and I'm just panicing, waiting for the day he destroys the tv or something, bless him.

Don't think I'll try bungee jumping or parachute jumping over the next few days with the way my luck's been

Shouldn't be a problem. If a letting agent is involved then they hold the deposit and the landlady has nothing to do with it at all. It's the law.

I hope you took his reg number?

Go to the police and report it. They will be able to tell if it was him or not. He'd also get done for failing to stop after an accident if it proves to be him.

There you go, things are looking up already............just the neighbours left to sort out. :-D

I thought it was a bit unusual that after they went round and gave me the all clear after their check out inventory on 15th Oct, they then said the next day that the landlady was coming back into the area the week after and they had been instructed to hold on to the deposit until she had basically re-done the inspection.

Called CAB but they had no idea as they'd not come across it before. I was considering contacting a solicitor to pay for their advice, as I'm not letting this woman try and con me out of my money !

The bloke's little boy goes to the same nursery, so see him everyday. but the trouble is, he's a traveller family and unfortunately not one of the nice traveller families. If I get the police involved, I'm likely to either get a kicking myself (which I would take if it meant showing him he couldn't just damage my stuff, yeah, I'm that stubborn, lol) or the other option would be something being done to my house and with 2 little kiddies here I just couldn't take the risk.

So hands are tied on this one for me I think

Ooooh, thank you for that. I'll give them a ring and see if I have a case, as the letting agent isn't actually the one saying I shouldn't give it back - they are saying I should be getting it back and it's the landlady who's screaming at them not to dare hand it back to me. I'll see what they suggest though

Aww so sorry to hear you having a sh*tty time just now, bad things always happen in threes though so hopefully that's yours out the way for a good while!! I had the same thing happen with a massive 4x4 reversing into my car too but the guy had scarpered by the time we got back to the car & found out...

Anyway, have a big hug http://forums.di.fm/images/smilies/hug.gif & I wish you loads of luck & hopefully things will get sorted for you

only the really honest and genuine people will leave a note or something if they graze or hit your car while u are away

the majority (and thats alot!) would just do a runner given the chance

ive had about 5 mishaps to my car all runners

sigh:p the worstest one was a £600 bill

Sounds like you have had a right bummer of a weekend, think we all get them from time to time(not too often thank gawd).Chin up and maybe you will get a bit of luck somewhere to compensate.;-)

I've had a thought which will kill 2 birds with one stone. Report him for trashing your car whilst at the same time making it known you live next door. He'll get prosecuted and when he comes round to sort you out he'll go next door and give the neighbours a pasting. :w00t: :giggle:

Our letting agent gives our tenants a walk through when they take the property on and another when they leave - if she had an issue with your tenancy - she should have raised her concern at the time - doesn't really sound like she has a leg to stand on:-D
Ooh, you might want to check the meatheads tax disc too...:whistling:

Sorry you had had bad few days,I'm having a hard time too with some stuff, its like once thing after the next really.
Hope things look up 4 both of us soon.Things got a habit of coming all at once which makes it harder to deal with.

have you considered saying to the hummer driver " that you need to report it to the police for insurance reasons and that you will need to give his details to eliminate him from there enquireries".he cant then blame you as you have given him a chance to admit fault.

    Fight fire with fire.

You say your stubborn, if your anywhere near as stubborn as me then you'd be thinking of getting your own back, of course you dont admit to anything for legal reasons.

Your a mum, and should be a respectable one at that so either so for you its against the rules but surely you have someone who can act on your behalf, failing that tell me - You can take the lad out of manchester but not the manchester out of the lad and all that.

Nails in tires work wonders, especially on 4x4's they're expensive, plus it makes you look innocent. a well placed nail angled under this cars tire gives it time to go some distance before they know they've got a puncture, so they dont relate it to you, fine if you slash the tire they'll notice foul play straight away. set it in the grove of the tread so the puncture cant be repaired.

Legally your landlady doesnt have a leg to stand on, so wait for you money to come through, after threatening with a small claims court injunction. you can always brick the windows for the grief she caused.

as for your neighbours.... well ill think about that one.

Sorry, tone of post differs from that of my usual, but people like that really hack me off, just ask the guy who's RX8 I keyed in tesco on friday becuase he was swearing at some woman who had a go at him for parking in a mother and baby space, with no kids of course. GRRRRR and that wasnt even anything to do with me  wow..... I'm a chav with morals!

I have to disagree with that statement, I don't think you can say that its just 4x4 drivers! I drive a 4x4 and clipped someones mirror in a car park once, not through lack of caring, these things just happen sometimes. I immediately got some paper and left a note with full contact details offering to sort out a repair for them. I think that you will get the same amount of inconsiderate drivers (If not more) in regular and smaller cars.

I'm not trying to start a fight, i just think the problem is equally spread over all types of car drivers. It's down to the car driver at the end of the day, not the vehicle they are driving.

What annoys me is the drivers that will open their car door into yours even when you're in the car and when you mention it to them politely they just deny it lol.

Chris i drive a 4x4 too so I'm with you on that- I could never leave an accident without saying anything, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night

I don't know anyone who would just leave without leaving a note! I would feel too guilty if i just left!

But there are some scabby people who do! I had a brand new 206 a couple of years ago & parked up behind a guy with a 4x4... he was at his car when I parked up & when I came back my bonnet was crumpled & had orange paint scratches from his external spare wheel thingy from reversing into it :x

I'm not saying it's anything to do with 4x4 drivers though, I agree with JB it really depends on the type of person you are... And to be honest, loads of people are talking about "getting revenge" but I could never go through with anything like that myself

I had a similar problem with a vehicle mounting the front of my nice shiny new Seat Ibiza about 4 years ago.

At the time I couldn't believe that someone would damage the car then leave the scene of the accident.

I reckon that it was a pregnant mum who was driving her nice 4x4 because there is a yoga centre for pregnant woman near where I park my car and we always get them parking their big vehicles in the street.

Did consider something along the lines of what was previously suggested about the police needing to eliminate the vehicle from their enquiries, but decided against any mention of the police to these people winds them up, even if they had nothing to worry about. The annoying thing is they are very well off (and I have no idea how !!) and apparantly carry enough cash on them to buy my car outright, so paying for the damage they did wouldn't cause them any problems at all.

Maybe I'm going through life wrong. If I stop caring about my actions and stop trying to be a decent person, then maybe my luck will change....

And of course you can have a right laugh as they bag up the kids that were killed in the back of the 4x4 which hit the central reservation when a tyre blew out at high speed on the motorway causing the vehicle to flip over.

They sleep at night because they are pleased at the knowledge of 'getting away with it!'. They probably even will brag abaout it to their mates, about how they got one over on the gulible lady that they 'run over with their car', 'stuffed over with the rent' or 'destroyed with their fireworks'. These people are the scurge of our society and unfortunately in this day and age they are more and more of them about.

The answer to all three situations is to threaten court action. Any solicitor will do a 'if you don't admit liabilty, or pay up' letter for about £10, and usually does the trick pretty swiftly. If they do not pay up, a county court small claims approach will cetainly get their attention, this is in the region of £45 each case, but just for the satisfaction of knowing you have caused them as much grief as they have you is worth every penny. :w00t:

I think that wrt the hummer driver, it's probably best just to let it go. I guess that there is a possibility it wasn't him (someone could have arrived after he moved on, and pranged you then 'done a runner') . Even if you're certain it was him, if you're worried about the type of person he is, then it's best just to leave it. Otherwise you'd only end up worrying yourself sick about what he'd do next ... I'd leave it to karma to sort out.
