Found 2nd Jun 2014
hi. hubby has seen a tortilla/roti maker on ebay which he wants yo buy, mainly because it would be much more convenient and mess-free than using a rolling pin an two layers of cling film ( for gluten-free flour, which is difficult to roll than common flour). anyway my question is, can i get it from anywhere in the shops? i feel hesitant buying one from ebay in case its a fake and may blow my kitchen up~ oh and the hubby. The one he is interested in is from India. it has very good reviews. how can you tell if the are genuine though? help much appreciated thanks

For expensive items I tend to prefer Amazon unless it's a large store's outlet on eBay.

What about something like this?
amazon.co.uk/Fox…ker

Difficult to advise on if it's genuine and/or dangerous when you've just given a vague category.
There are ways to mitigate whether you're buying a fake on ebay. For example, PC World and Argos sell hundreds of thousands of items on there. You can be pretty much assured they're genuine.

Mexico or India!

Tell me the brand name and may be I can advise if it's a well known brand in India

thats the thing, i have never seen a roti maker in the shops

In my experience, items like that are only sold in certain areas. Like for example supermarkets in my area cater for that sort of cuisine (amongst others). A few miles down the road you couldn't get any of those sorts of ingredients/items.
These rotli makers sound like an even more specialist product so would probably only be sold in the ethnic food shops which are definitely only in regions in which there is demand.

I'm guessing if these things are niche and mainly made in India, there's little danger of people faking them, but few ways to ensure electrical safety.
