Where can I get the best deal on a Travel card?

Found 19th Aug 2009
Ive left this a tad late xD (as usual, with the important things)

I'm off on holiday for 3 weeks, first to South Africa and then onto Dubai. This is technically my first independent holiday, so in reality its the first time that I am in control of my expenses once abroad :P

I don't currently have a credit card, and only really rely on what I earn + my debit card.
However, after speaking with my rather blunt (info wise) bank, they told me that I would be charged a hefty retarded fee every time I make a transaction or withdraw money from an ATM.

I did a little research into Travel Cards and Visa Electron, and first impressions they do seem to be a bit better, but after looking at so many, I am now totally confused and tired xD

So, I was hoping, that the wise, exuberant bargain hunters that you all are, could help me out in choosing the best financially inexpensive travel card (or alternative) where I wont be charged any commission/ fee's when buying/withdrawing in Dubai or South Africa?

Or if that isn't possible, then the next best thing?

Or..... Any advice that you can perhaps give me?

Thank you very much for helping

Well according to Martin Lewis (MSE) the best prepaid card is FairFX as they offer the best exchange rates. You do have to pay to withdraw money from an ATM but it's less than using a debit card. fairfx.com/tra…rdl

Nationwide Flexaccount Visa debit Card.

Not sure that FairFX do the correct currency that you require.
