where to take the wife this weekend???

    evening all!!!

It me and my wifes wedding anniversiry this weeked, and like always i've left it till the last minute!

I am thinking of taking her away for the weekend, but im not sure where. I'm looking for somewhere close to the west midlands that is nice and peaceful (not into clubbing, drinking etc) and has some sight seeing to do. And importantly has some good shopping!

    Can anyone recommend anything??

I'm open to other suggestions aswell

    Rep left for all help

Chester?... Also close to a big outlet place... forget the name?
... Cheshire oaks it's called... but chester is nice... Roman Wall.. Cathedral... Good Shopping

The beach? it's been good weather lately. should be romantic especially at sunset

Stratford is nice. Good restaurants, shops, nice siting by the river, peaceful apart from the tourists.

    Take her up the canal.

Take her to Burford. It's pretty.

You may even get a late break long weekend on a narrowboat. (warning - you may get addicted)

Went to Ledbury, Great Malvern and the Malvern hills last week myself - very enjoyable - and hada quick look at a few boats.

Take her deep into the centre of Mianus.

How about a Spa Break where you can get a room and dinner - and then go exploring the area from the hotel

Nottingham? ignore the subsequent remarks about bullet proof vests Nottingham? ignore the subsequent remarks about bullet proof vests this hotel is beautiful http://www.lacemarkethotel.co.uk/ and is in the midlle of the old lace market area. You can visit Nottingham Castle http://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1036 and the shopping is great.A 30 minute drive will take you to Sherwood Pines http://www.digicam69.co.uk/sherwoodpines.htm or Rufford Park http://www.greatbritishgardens.co.uk/rufford_country_park.htmfor some beautiful wooded walks too.

Nottingham gets such bad press, there really is a lot to see and do here. we often take the dog walking through Sherwood Forest, its so peaceful. Today I took my mum to a quaint little tea shop and we had afternoon tea with scones and french fancies thisisnottingham.co.uk/foo…tml

    and have a wonderful anniversary together x x x

make sure you blindfold her and tell her its a suprise.......that way she'll never find her way back!

    just kidding!

i realise this doesn't entirely meet your specs but go to Paris you can use Eurotunnel so its not so expensive
