    Which 50" Plasma (pretty urgent)?

Hi, can anyone tell me, out of these two tellys, which one should I go for?

(wanting to get a quick answer & explanation if poss, as wanting to buy today and shop closes at 6pm)

LG 50PK350 50" Full HD Plasma TV

SAMSUNG PS50C450B 50" HD Ready Plasma TV

Aside from the LG being Full HD 1080p, and the sumsung not being full HD, what are the other differences?

Which would you go for, and why?

I'd go for full HD on a TV that size without any doubt at all.

We have 1 42" Sony 1080p TV and one 40" Samsung TV (not FullHD) and you can instantly tell the difference, even on SD pictures it's noticable.

get the Full HD one. without a doubt.

Yep, full HD from me too mate for the reasons given by wotwot123. The bigger the screen the more important HD is. However, running anything other than HD through either of these will give a picture that is far from detailed. Indeed, in most cases a CRT will give a better result when showing non HD input.

    Simple question.

    1. Will you be buying a Blueray player or other 1080p media source ?

Sky HD & Virgin HD are only 720, so if your not getting any of the above, you dont NEED a full HD TV.

I'd get a Panasonic over either of those 2 makes though if possible - Samsung TV's buzz

the LG TV seems a better deal all round , ive just bought a 37"LCD full HD LG tv, sound n picture quality is brilliant !!

    Rubbish

Like I said, even with SD sources, the difference is there, that's if you have perfect eyesight or wear glasses.

Panasonic if you want the best quality lower priced plasma TV.

Wow.... impulse or what : P

Samsungs are better for LCDS than plasma whereas Panasonic and Toshiba have the best reps for Plasmas.

The higher the res the worse SD looks generally.

It all comes down to future proofing, the only real thing that will use the quality of 1080p is pc usage (and often that needs a powerful machine) or blu ray or if you still have a hd dvd player.

Most 360 and PS3 games are 720p though I am not 100% sure about recent games, Sky HD as stated is 720p

I have a 42" plasma LG and it's only 720'ish. The football in HD is simply stunning on it.

There are practically no native 1080p games on either format. I agree about PC connectivity though, mine looks ropey on the plasma (720p) compared to the monitor (1080p).

    Really?

What difference would having a panel with the capability to display full HD over one that doesn't in showing an SD picture?

    Think about it.

It's all in the picture processing capability of the panel, and not the resolution it can display at the end of the day.

Get the 1080p or you might as well just buy a CRT.

I'm just commenting on my experience really, I use both of the Plasmas here a lot - I use the 1080p for PS3 and BluRay, and the 720p one is used for general TV. Quality of TV is better on the 1080p one, maybe due to the Samsung being crap, who knows, but I can tell the difference.

    That's kinda my point mate.

^^ what signal is going inot the 720 though, a blu ray on a 1080 is obviously going to look better than SD on a 720?

i love tv threads on here!!

OP..Get them to demo both for you from the same source and let your eyes decide

or if you CBA in my opinion the LG and thats not because its full HD,just from personal experience that they make crackin' plasmas.

That's what I thought but seeing as they haven't replied to any post on here I guess they aren't interested in what we've got to say anyway.

Not really, as I'm comparing SD content and both the TV's cost near enough the same money. (Sony was £500 (biggest bargain ever) and Samsung we got for £400 but it was £500)

who cares. whatever you watch on either will look great.
we had them side by side in our store and I couldnt find any customer who could see the resolution difference, and yes they were both being fed from a blu ray

my apologies i mis-read your post:oops: but i would say your sony would still be better the samsung even if it wasnt full HD (imo of course)

    Thanks for the pointless post

Have the samsung model , no problems at all except the poor sound which nearly all samsung models suffer from, its quite bad on this model, sound distorts even at low volume, luckily i use a samsung home threatre system with the TV to get around this.
