Head over to ImgBurn forum and have a look at the media that has been tested

Use only Verbatim and use MKM-001-00 if you are using an older dvd writer if newer you could use verbs with mid code MKM-003-00

I only use singapore verbatims never had a coaster yet from them and ive tried other recomended ones Aones etc and found them unreliable, pay a little more and get the singapore verbatims ^__^

Hi i don't know the brand of my dvd writer i know it can burn dvd+r dl though.

Also the 2nd link, i can't seem to understand the graphs. Is there a cheaper alternative to verbatims?

Also does it matter that much if im installing the games to hard drive?

If you manage to burn a good copy then it doesnt matter if its installed to hard drive.

DVD+DL (allegedly) makes the laser in the Xbox 360 work harder when reading so I would recommend playing off hard drive anyways.

The point is poor media has a much higher coaster rate than good quality brands like Verbatims.

To be honest, £1.20 a disk is not bad for a Xbox 360 new release now is it?

The Best Verbatims in order are:

    Taiwan
    Singapore
    India

In my opinion, anyone will do you but of course if they are the same price then aim for the Taiwan or Singa ones. Though after burning about 50 Indian ones, I have yet to have a coaster. Even ones I burnt 2 years ago still works.

Play.com were doing 10 Verbs for 10.99 FWIW..

Some people have been swaering by Fortis recently (10 for £6 apparently) but I've only ever used Aone plus

    simple answer NO

Longer answer. I have over 40 dvd writers and test all kinds of media in conjunction with ImgBurn and because I own so many dvd writers and have so many disc's I can burn to some of the cheaper ones with a degree of success but i know what I am doing and have a good memory as to which drive and at which speed these troublesome disc's work at.

To make things simple USE VERBATIM as they are the most compatible highest quality you are likely to get and you may buy 10 CHEAPY disc's for £5 or 10 Verbs for £10 and you may just get 2 or 3 to burn out of the cheap disc's and all 10 Verbs will burn fine . It's false economy to have to buy 3x 10 of your cheap disc's to get near to 10 good burns.

Also burning any disc is a bit more complex than burn and go. In order to know that what you burnt was exact data that was read you need to VERIFY all data written another step is the PI/PO scanning o media to see how well the media accepted the data (quality of burn) that are the pretty colour graphs EASY way to understand those is RED IS VERY BAD, orange is bad, yellow is not good and green IS VERY GOOD (The quality rating is the overall rating and less that 84 is a bit of a bad burn and the disc may not be readable for as long as it should be)

By any chance do you have a HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-T1ON drive and which discs are best for it? i.e the difference between the verbatims and aone plus

I'l second the fortis ones, great quality they are £7 for a pack of 10 or £11 for 2 packs, 55p a disc is a bloody good price per disc IMO gone through 30 so far and no coasters, this is my local market btw so prices may vary, although demand has increased for them so they are harder for him to get in stock so if anyone knows of similar prices online i'm interested:thumbsup:

If thats is a laptop drive it is even more important to use decent media as in Verbatim

Dye is important not the manufacturer. If Verbatim were to use some of the dye used on the cheaper disc's no one would recommend them.

that's what I've been hearing about them. Nearly everyone who mentions them says no coasters. I haven't found them locally though - might try the indoor market now that you've mentioned yours

    yeah its a laptop drive

If you want piece of mind, Verbs are only about £11 on ebuyer. I remeber them being much more expensive last time i got some. Plus my 360 now seems o reject and Aones.

I have tried Aones and Verbs but heard others are good like Memorex and Vortis, anyone tried them?

    why expired?

not had an aone plus coaster in over 200 burns. (actually that's a fib, my electric went out the other day while burning)

Use a Pioneer 216DBK, imgburn and verify with a different program after. No complaints yet!
