First poster so please go easy!

I am looking to buy my first HD TV and came across the following deal:

soundandvision.co.uk/tv/…00u

Is this the best TV I can buy for the money at this size? I don't have SKY HD at the moment and the TV is for general viewing and PS3 use.

Thanks in advance.

best can be defined a number way dependant on your needs.

For me, i'd rather got for a bigger size rather than a 100hz TV, you fail to say whether you'll be watching blu ray via the ps3, if not then you wont notice the difference in frequency on gaming alone.

200hz sony

or a panasonic which were the best when i did a detailed in depth analysis about a year ago before buying mine

Have a look at the Samsung LE40A656 LCD. I've just got it and it looks amazing. I don't have Sky HD but do make use of a PC BluRay player and the picture is stunning. It's also good picture for SD viewing and i believe it's under £700 in many places now. Check out the reviews on AV Forums.

Wow, serious first post.

it depends on your budget...£1200 ...go for panasonic ...£750 go for samsung....£2500 then go for pure top of the range quality ..pioneer;-)

I probably won't be watching many Blu rays as it goes. Minstrelman - can you suggest an alternative please?

Casparwhite - Have you got a link for the 200Hz please?

serious kit, the standard is 100Hz at the moment so go for that and make sure it's got 1080p output no point spending serious money on anything less

I saw the advert, and I'm dying to see one in the shops, I remember when I first saw a 100hz TV and it was playing Ratatouille blu ray...... I still havnt got that stain out of my panties

sorry OP, i do tons of research when I'm in the market and I got one 6 months ago so not upto date, so cant really suggest an alternative at this point - I was just stating for what you said you were using it for I'd rather go for size rather than a 100hz TV, believe the hype. SIZE MATTERS! lol

Thanks for the advice everyone.

I think that I will strike the Sony TV off my list now.

By the way, should've added, this TV is:
100Hz
Full 1080p
24p for BluRay support
I did loads of research and this was the best LCD i could find for the money.
