Hypnos-as slept on by the Queen. but if you don't have £2k to spare, then go to a local bed manufacturer to get the most for your money, i.e. pocket springs and natural materials.
Buy a good one you are on it half of your life, I had a memory foam one for 5 years and it was ok but you will get very hot in the summer months. I read a lot of reviews and ended up going with a pocket sprung as you will not roll together, stay cooler and if you bounce the wife won't. look for amount of springs in the matteress more the better, matteress depth. I got a sleepeeze backcare ultimate 2000 firm and it is very good but it is personal choice. I went around a few local places and tested a few out and i would recomend this as you get a feel for it because a firm with 1000 springs will not be the same as a firm with say 2000 springs.hope this helps.see mattressesworld and read some reviews.
Crendon Outlet (on ebay) sells ex-display Hypnos models, I know because I have one Some hotels even have Hypnos beds (the one I have is a contract bed called a Landsdowne Cashmere).

"Ex-showroom, ex-exhibition, ex-photoshoot". They even sell one-off, custom made sizes at times. stores.ebay.co.uk/Cre…let Also bed sets or mattress and divan, mattresses on their own, headboards, divans, bed frames, etc.

The cheapest King Size I can see is "made by Hypnos for Crendon" here: ebay.co.uk/itm…7a6 for £275

"Handmade using 1200 medium feel ReActive Pocket Springs
Upholstered with layers of Polycotton, Denim and Wool
2 rows of side stitched mattress border
Made from end of line material
Handmade using 1200 medium feel ReActive Pocket Springs
This item has been passed by Hypnos quality control strict guidelines for resale."

They also seem to have Dunlopillo, Myers and Staples beds on there, which much be quite recent: in the past the ebay shop was devoted solely to Hypnos beds.

yeh i was looking around 1200 springs and perhaps with latex instead of memory foam

i came across this one on tescos

tesco.com/dir…655

with a £100 off... i have tested different beds, but trying to find a good price... i do prefer latex over memory foam as its cooler
i dont want it too firm, as i think 2000 is too firm...

thank you
'Natural' does seem to be rather an abused term in the mattress industry. If you actually wanted natural then I'd look for a specialist, anything else is likely to be adulterated. It'll also restrict your choice of construction as not all natural materials meet fire and other important regulations.

The general advice does seem to focus on the major components and ignore anything that is only present in small or unspecified amounts.

As you've listed springs and memory foam I'm guessing you're not after a specific feel or natural materials. Does that mean you're after longevity and/or cheapness? What sort of priorities/limits do you have? Would you pay twice as much for something that lasted twice as long? 50% longer? 25% longer?

Do you have a cap on your budget? A lot of the more expensive foams for example will cost around £1000 for a King sized mattress. If you'd rather keep it under £500, for example, then you can discount a lot of materials because any instance of them within budget will be too thin or sparse to do any good.
I'm in the same boat as the op, so following this. I need a new kingsize for myself, and single for my son (just bought him a new bed 'without mattress') as we are in the process of decorating the whole house and changing all furniture etc...

All opinions/ideas appreciated!
budget under 450£ for the mattress
i want something thats comfortable i know i would like a medium level of firmness
i dont want to spend too much, i want something thats good value that will last me for around 5 years.

Here's another Hypnos (originally sold by the White Company): Super King, £145.99 or Best Offer: ebay.co.uk/itm…489

Not pocket sprung as far as I can tell, though.

"This is a brand new item. Please note that the item may have some slight cosmetic marks from storage"

I can vouch for XSItems on ebay, they've been great whenever I've ordered from them.
