TBH, you really should consider getting a plasma, if this is the type of money you're wanting to throw at an LCD!

You can get a lovely 42" Plasma for less than these go for and I guarantee the image will be far better.

i mostly watch football and play ps3 on it, would u still recomend a plasma and do u have 1 in mind, only prob with the size is that 40" is the max size i can go for and still want 1080p/24p with 100hz:thumbsup:

If you're willing to forego 2" (ooer) the LG 42PG6000 is a nice bit of kit. They all take 1080p/24. I've got the 50" version and happily run my 360 and PS3 at 1080p (the latter at 1080p/24 for Blu-ray only - the PS3s games are mostly only in 720p/60)

(If it's the missus stopping you getting a 42", take her to comet and compare a 40 to a 42 - there's hardly a difference)

    You're looking at around £550-£570: multizoneav.com/Pro…se/

Definitely because of what you want to use it for, Plasma will be better. You get awful motion blur on LCD which you only notice once you see it on a Plasma!

Also, don't buy into this 1080p nonsense - it's irrelevent with Plasma and I promise you'll get a better image than what you were looking at.

hmm, ok - how much space do you actually have to play with? What are the dimensions, as not only do some TVs have smaller frames than others, but you also have to factor in ventilation.

its 980mm by 600mm and 500mm deep. A 37 fits very nicly, 40" just about

You're going to need a rethink here. Even the TV you originally asked about will exceed this once you think about the overall size:

    Samsing LE40A686:
    Dimensions 67 x 99 x 24 cms (basically 990 x 670 x 240mm)
    (taken from 1staudiovisual.co.uk/cat…tml)

You are going to struggle even with some 37" TVs

hmm not good i guess the hight include the stand maybe a 37 max. toshiba make small teles will have t look around

If you are still after a 37" then I'd look towards Panasonic. They have very decent Plasma's and LCD's (Plasma''s have a slimmer bezel).
Personally, I think recommendations are great but based on what you hear you should try out the sets that your being advised to buy. It's best to make sure your happy with it rather than buy it and find out the hard way that your not going to be happy with it.

Not even that - you have to consider that whilst the panel is 37", this is excluding the outer frame.
