Which of these 2 laptops are better?

their almost the same, only difference is one is an i3 with an ati 5145 graphics card and other is an i5 with an integrated GMA.
    thanks.

My NVIDIA ION based nettop can handle 1080p full Blu-ray 40Mb/s bitrate video with HD audio so the i5 with integrated should be able to but I wouldn't be able to confirm for 100%. Wait for one of the PC nerds to show up...

Usually a dedicated graphics card would normally beat an integrated version, and in this case it does make a considerable difference especially if you are a gamer. To help distinguish the performance of the two graphics cards the website Notebookcheck has an excellent comparison of both chipsets. For further details check each link. If you are a gamer go for the first laptop with a dedicated 5145 graphics card, if it is for anything else the second one would better suit you with a better I5 processor.

im mostly using it for work so although i wanted to try out starcraft 2, the i5 will probably be a better deal for me.

The GMA X4500 supports H264, VC-1 and MPEG 2 decoding and is also HDCP compliant. It will handle Blu Ray films effortlessly. With regards to HD content, if the media does not use a CODEC that the GMA X4500 will decode, then the CPU will perform the job and the i5 should have no trouble with those too. It will be a similar story with dedicated graphics. If the dedicated graphics card cannot decode certain CODECS, it will be left to the CPU. A dedicated graphics card does not necessarily imply that it can decode certain CODECs better than integrated graphics, by the way.

My recommendation is the i5 with X4500 graphics. Leave the X4500 to decode the popular HD CODECs and you have a capable i5 to fall back upon with unsupported CODECs. If you took the other option, you will end up with an i3 to fall back upon with unsupported CODECs and although it is very much up to the task, the i5 obviously provides extra leeway.

oh and theres absoloute bargains in their e-brochure but when you type in the code, it shows you another model costing way more...WTF?
i'll keep in mind the build quality of the toshiba but hopefully nothing will go wrong.
