    Which VNC Software?

    Hi people.

Thinking of implementing some form of VNC software, to obviously remotely control another computer.

I am aware there are various products out there to do this, but as its not something i've really done before, just wondering if anyone can recommend software for the task?

    Thanks.

there is VNC itself. not a bad little app for easy connection. then there the classic stealth remote software called Damware. good for hidden connection to remote machines.

personally i use pc anywhere from symantec. i can connect to my machine while im away from home with simple port forwading and dynamic dns. let me know if you need anymore advice.

gotomypc is very good (citrix based and pretty reliable)
    ultravnc works well
Pc Anywhere is a tad old school but I still use it on a daily basis

    Hope that helps

To BOTH of you guys, are any of these programs free (legit wise i mean, lol), or would i need to purchase. Assume Symantec one will need purchased, and not saying is a problem, just so i know.

    Cheers.

Ultravnc is free if I remember correctly - gotomypc and PC Anywhere are chargeable I believe

heres RealVNC which i think is free for personal use ]http//ww…tml

& yes Gotomypc & PCAnywhere mean get them $$$'s out

remote desktop which is part of windows is still good.

    Thanks for the replies people!

Going to look in to one or two of these programs, and the Windows built-in software may do fine, as i believe its just basic what is required anyway.

    Cheers.

Remote Desktop gets the thumbs up from me, too. For added bonus, if you've got a Windows Mobile phone, you can download a remote desktop client for that, and control your PC with your phone. It's awesome. The only drawback with Remote Desktop is that you can't view someone else's session, and unless you're running a server OS, two people can't have simultaneous active sessions. Ace otherwise, though.

I tend to use TightVNC for personal use although I haven't been keeping up with others, their mirror driver for the server machine means you don't strangle the resources when connected.
