Which wall paint should I use ? Which one is the best ?

I bought a new house recently and there is new plaster on each wall. I've been told that Valspar is quite good but also I've found some bad reviews. Could you please shae some experience here and advice as I need some decent paint which will last years. Thank you.

don't know about lasting years but screwfix do Leyland paint for new plaster,
I used about 60 litres in summer and it's still fine.

You need a mist coat on fresh plaster. Cheap Emulsion mixed with water, 50/50. Then paint which ever colour u want on top.

Thank you for your replies. I've done a bit with a mist coat in white. My question is about a brand and paint type for next and the final layer. Sorry if I wasn't clear on this.

dulux endurance I've found it the best .

I agree with dulux endurance . It lasts . I too have a new house . I had a tin of valspar mixed for a feature wall . It took five coats .

Approx 6 months and it's still fine..... stood the test of time then

My son used let land paint it's good stuff from screw fix and bonus it's reduced to 14.89 just now 10litres

Leyland in screwfix, I've just used it and it's fine. Not thick at all so will be ideal for mixing with water for first coat.

instead of being a troll why not offer some advice?
if you read what I wrote "don't know about lasting years" maybe you wouldn't look so stupid.

Dulux endurance is good, if you're looking for a good chalky finish though I can recommend the Autentico range. We've got a really old cottage and had the walls replastered and used this, the coverage and finish are really good.

Looks like Dulux endurance is the one.
I wonder why Valspar is more expensive and recommended by b&q... sounds like better profit for them :>

Thank you all for sharing you exp.

I have used Dulux endurance on my staircase and its lasted well

I have just used Johnstons , great coverage ,dries to a hard finish , on offer in b&m 2 for £18

Different methods for new plaster, emulsion, watered down emulsion, pva glue, 'proper' new plaster sealer.

    My method is similar to previous ;
50/50 white matt emulsion and water for first coat, second coat around 60% emulsion 40% water, then emulsion straight on for 3rd coat, depending on the finish at this point possibly a 4th coat is required if walls are to be left white or finish the 4th coat with your desired colour.

Leyland Contract Matt (co-incidentally on sale at Screwfix just now), Johnstones or Dulux Trade Matt.

Oh ohhh, you mentioned Valspa - the last post in the Ask section went on for two years with people who kept adding their two pennies worth.
Even though there were at least 240 replies that made it quite clear that 99% of people thought Valspa was rubbish.

Buy trade paint from a trade shop. Most merchants sell a endurance type paint but it's a lot more concentrated.
