Decided to go back to filtering my water as I have a bad throat and the filter takes the edge off the chlorine making it smoother to drink.

Any how, I've always used Brita filters that are about £8 but saw Tesco do there own at £2 (which is the one i got). Does anyone know if there is a difference between the two, do you get what you pay for? I can tell the Tesco filter has cleared the water but to what extent?

cant give you the medical type facts, but I have been using the Tesco one for a few months. Very pleased with, water stunk of chemicals when I moved into new build a year ago, filter sorted it and noticeably clear when you hold glass up to the light. Find it hard to believe the Brita would be any better, think you'd be paying more for the badge imho.

cant say, i use the brita and have no complaints. tastes so different and you cant tell by holding it up to the light, i dont care what above says. what they filter is not visible to the naked eye.

Brita is good, the bigger more rectangular filters are better than the older style cylindrical ones.

I've got an old Brita jug and don't have a problem with their filters I was just trying to save a bit of money with the cheaper filters.

We are so lucky here in Scotland as our tap water is lovely - so refreshing. My 11yr old son drinks nothing but water (has never had a fizzy drink in his life). Have friends in Birkenhead and when we visit just cant believe how foul the tap water tastes!

thanks for the headsup on my water supply, the main point is the taste, and yes it does taste better filtered. Any impurities/additions removed must surely be a good thing anyway.

When I visit my brother in Wales the water there seems so fresh and is a world away from here, but only an hours drive. Look forward to drinking it there, which is how it should be really.

i also live in Scotland and must admit that the tap water is better but you still need to filter the water if you want to make sure it's free from contaminants.

I changed out my sink/tap and bought/fitted a new tap with a built in filter.
