First of all could anyone point me in the right direction as to how and what you look for in a decent whisky?

And has anyone seen any good deals about, I guess if I know more I'd have a better chance of finding something.

Many thanks

K

Famous Grouse is one of the best blended whiskys, and online you can personalise the label.
Cost is £17.99 + £4.95 delivery

Thank you

If you're looking for a decent whisky then I wouldn't go for a blended whisky like Famous Grouse. Go for a malt, I'd suggest Talisker or Glenmorangie which will cost about £25 for 70cl.

Whisky,of which there are a great many to choose from, can be a matter of personal taste.

I do not drink it myself but my husband who is partial to the odd tot swears by Bushmills. It is an Irish whisky and very, very smooth, you should be able to pick up a 70cl bottle for around £18.

Another friend of mine says that Laphroig is also very good,it is a whisky with a peaty flavour to it.Apparently most blended whiskies(so he tells me) have Laphroig in them, that should cost you around £22.

thank you again

The Glenmorangie looks nice, they all taste the same to me so I find it very hard to know if its a decent one or not lol.

I tend to just drink it, make some unsightely facial expression... burn up and repeat

If it's an "Irish whisky" then it's not whisky but whiskey

If they all taste the same i wouldnt bother going for a "decent" bottle, as said its all about personal taste. If theres no difference to you, you can just go for the cheapest:)

Malt whiskeys are much better than blended ones. A good rule of thumb is the older the whisky the finer it is.

Check out Threshers - they usually top brand whiskey deals on about this time.

One to look out for is the Glenmorangie Burgundy Finish (search Threshers & Tesco - one or the other usually has it below £20). Its finished in old Burgundy wine casks and really adds another level to the flavour.

Good luck

lol! Just read my post - not an alcy honest!
