Royal Mail. Just 2nd Class.

Ive only ever ordered small items-shoes/watches etc but always come with the postie.

Even for an item which is priced £70?

I know of someone on here who ordered a £300 camera off amazon (I think they used supersaver) it came via Royal mail 1st class...

No tracking whatsoever.

Amazon are idiots.

yes, usually rm recorded

As above, Royal Mail and not even recorded. They are clearly feeling confident.

That what im worried about, in the event that the item doesnt turn up, would i be £70 out of pocket because i didnt go for a better delivery service?

you wont be out of pocket m8-they have to PROVE delivery-if they dont send recorded its THEIR loss-proof off posting isnt proof of delivery-thats the law.

so tempting to claim it never arrived

they dont use recorded or special delivery. i think the only items sent tracked are those too big and heavy for a normal postie to carry...like large tv's etc

Yep but tell us to return stuff worth over 40 pounds with recorded means.
Bought an ipod touch for my hubby a few weeks back. 150 pounds, SENT 2ND CLASS!
Never came and they had to send a replacement which came the same way LOL
I love amazon for their service and all (have been buying from them for over 10 years) but that´s ridiculous.
BUT at least when stuff gets lost you won´t EVER have a problem getting a replacement or refund.

Actually, come to think of it, Amazon have used CityLink before for me for an expensive item. not sure if it was super saver or not.

How long did you have to wait til it was reported lost?

I think it depends MAINLY on the size of the item.
Cuz big things they always send by some kinda of courier.
Little stuff, no matter how expensive usually goes with RM
(got ds lites, ipods, external hdds etc etc in the past all by normal RM, not signed for or anything)
Bigger things like guitar hero bundles, printer, bluray player, ps3 etc all came by courier even with supersaver)

Yeah it´s really hard to tell.
Maybe there is no pattern at all and they just use whatever.
Could also depend on who they have the better deal with and for what size/weight items the deals are.

One thing I never understood with amazon for saturday delivery (using prime)

Its Free for Citylink or £4.40 for RMSD..

Well Citylink come before 12 on a saturday.

RMSD before 1... so technically Citylink is the better bet right?

Confusing I know but I don't understand their logic..

I had a parcel from them delivered by citylink last saturday at 8AM.

RMSD never gets here at that time.
