Who to use for sending parcels?

Ive just sold some stuff on ebay (well I'm hoping I have!)

Its basically 8 boxes, approx 35cm x 20cm x20cm and probably weigh about 1 kg each - so going to box in one parcel.

I was going to use parcel force, but I just had a quick online look at their prices - and think I can now see why they are struggling! Ye gods they are expensive! Cheapest was about £15 for 3 day delivery!

Anyway, Ive just had a quick google and found this one p4d.co.uk which seems to work out at £6.99+vat and for that they even collect as well!

So - what do you use to send parcels? My only concern with being collected is just the fact they can turn up at anytime (and that includes when the missus might be on the school run - which is a concern!)

That was what I had intended to do - but they are double the price and take double the time - hence why I've asked for (preferably) alternatives.

I use sellers on eBay for courier bookings, thats right you need to be in as they come anytime in day and if you miss it you need to pay for a rebooking as its your fault if you not in.I know Royal Mail Special delivery can do a 2kg not past that either for about £8 I think,or you can go with 1st class

Weight range First Class at new price
0-100g 109p
101-250g 138p
251-500g 184p
501-750g 238p
751-1000g 292p
1001-1250g 425p
Each additional 250g or part thereof +75p

thats the price chart, you can have it sent recorded mail for 70p extra but this will insure your parcel to about £34.So really if your parcel is 1000g and with recorded you can send it for less than fiver if its easier than waiting in.

Like I said, at those rates sending something that weighs 8KG will cost an arm and a leg! ie £4.25 + £18.25 Hmmmm. Maybe not the best price!

Just had a quick look. Seems pretty good to me! Though a little worrying not to be a bonifide type service Ive heard of!

So they just come and pick it up and you pay by cheque when delivered?

use payperdrop on ebay

they act as middlemen for DHL

£6 u cant really argue

I used payperdrop, and was collected next morning even though I only ordered it late at night.

Was DHL and delivered next day.

Yep some on eBay you pay by Paypal and like I said about the 1 I'm currently using ,I purchase on eBay,I send an email with info needed,I get a confirmation back,DHL comes,I get a manifest sheet with tracking number on and the parcels makes it way there no problem so far, infact I not had any problems with parcel bookings on eBay concerning the items getting there, only issues I have had is when they failed to collect and I had to rebook but that was with a seller I used last yr and into early this yr then they not registered no more.I see the parcel gets there and I pay this seller by cheque later on.
I'm just careful who i hand the parcel too at the door, like if it wasn't an official van and they didn't want to do the paperwork I would not release it.The guy who comes at moment,he gives me the correct paperwork, sometimes he has a normal van and sometimes he has an official van,I think you get ones that are like agents hence they have their own van.Anyway I know who comes to door for what company and it goes ok.

parcel save £5.50 next day delivery they use business post.

payperdrop for large expensive items

Royal Mail for small items (always send recorded when selling products)

Works private carrier company when sending parcels if needed urgent?
