    Whose responsibilty is it?

A sender send some money ( bank Transfer )to a recipient account but recipient never receives it. Given both sender and recipient are genuine, how should one go about? Is it the senders' or recipient's responisbility to chase?

Please help.. this is a real case

Sender. The non recipient can't chase what is not there.

i would prob say senders double check all details first

Both chase with your own banks

    Sender

Get sender to check they have right details. That would be first thing to do. If details are correct then sender would need to contact bank.

senders responibility-they are the only person in any position to do anything about it. Non recipient cant contact senders bank because of data protection etc-entirely the senders responsibility-if you are absolutely certain the sender is genuine, they must have put the wrong account number in when they did the transfer

    Probably a

That is exactly what my bank said !! But the sender's bank seems to verify that payment has been sent correctly but yet no evidence of payment is seen at the recipient bank.. How can I explain that?

Each bank claims its the oppposite bank's responsibility to chase... WTF ??

I assume you've verified the details from both parties are accurate - you haven't mentioned this. I take it the money is between two UK based banks?

The sender can contact their bank and ask for a trace to be placed on the payment. they will then trace the payment through whatever payment system was applied.
