Why are region 1 dvd boxsets much nicer produced than region 2?

r1 come in nice embossed slip cases usually and r2 have a shoddy plastic case?

Because it's a much bigger market and they can afford to spend more on them.

They are probably made to the lowest spec they think the region will accept. Obviously region 2 buyers have lower standards than region 1 buyers. Maybe to do with what they can sell them for in the region dictates what thay can spend on the manufacturing of them.

why should r2 have lower standards?

Because we like everything to be as cheap as chips probably!

prefer dvd cases to slip cases anyway
