Why do my trousers keep coming loose at seams?

Serious thread.

I am a big guy at the moment(17 stone) and a few months ago was wearing my good pair of trousers that cost £45 and the seam(I think its called that) the line in the middle of the trousers at the top had the tread come out so I got it sewn up at a shop, a month later it happened again so got it done elsewhere.

I got a new pair of trousers 2 weeks ago and the same thing has happened! these are all brand name trosuers, the £45 ones were Next and the £20 ones were BHS.

I assume its because I am fat? the waist sizes are fine though and my 2 cheap pairs of trousers havent had a problem(though are getting tatty so dont want to wear them)

Lol, its funnier though that my 2 cheap pairs havent had a problem and tis only my brand name ones.
Fat legs will put preassure on it when you sit down........i know from experience used to be 19st!

and when you bend over and if your legs rub together
Fashion + lard doesn't mix.

I am not lardy though, I have a rugby build and go to the gym. Lol
Very strange... Are they "stretchy" trousers or do they have little give? Look for the stretchy numbers, see if it helps.

Perhaps you're just too muscly for the trousers :P Go for the next size up?

Can't say this is a problem for me - I have a greater problem finding trousers that fit both my waist and my thighs without cutting off the circulation to my second brain or stomach - How bloody hard can it be to get a pair of 34/36 bootcut jeans that actually fit? I'm not fat (little tummy but that's it) but it's so damn difficult. (Sorry had to rant there, grr)
your legs are too big for normal trousers.
get yourself a moomoo or go to a fat man shop.
OMG some of you are so horrid.. must be hard being perfect !

It sounds like it is being stretched do you sit with your leg wide apart?

Each time they have split has been when how can I say it nicely, but opened my legs when sitting on a chair and say leaned over the side to grab a remote so I pull the fabric.

I know - and am sure most of them are far from perfect.
If the seams are splitting, maybe try the next size, or even 2 sizes up. Make sure you go into the changing rooms with both different sizes, and when you try them on, try bending over. If the trousers strain when you do this, then you need the next size up. If going up a size makes them slightly too baggy round the waist, try them with a belt.

They are baggy as they are, and I have to make the belt really tight to stop them falling down, they are size 42, and I can bend over or down without them being tight.

Is it possible I am tightening them too much? I also like to have them quite high up and people have joked I wear trousers like Simon Cowell before.
When this happens to your trousers do you have any of the below symptoms::thinking:
Anger
Rage
Turning Green
Vast Changes in Body Shape.

If these symptoms are present than you are the Incredible Hulk alias Dr Bruce Banner :w00t:

Hope this helps:thumbsup:
I'm a big lad too at just shy of 17 stone, bulky but not too much fat, and never had this problem except for once whenn trying some on in changing rooms when I bent down to pick the hanger up, the worst part was it was one where you have to show an assistant what you take in and hand what you opt not to buy back and they put them on a rail, lets say I left very quickly.

Is it just trousers you are having this problem with or jeans too?

Never noticed it with jeans, and all my weight is moobs and a beer gut, have thin arms, face and legs(though strong)

Its just the thread snapping on the seam bits the actual trousers are intact and just require sewing a bit of thread on.

Have you got a tailor or professional alterations shop anywhere near you? If you've got a tailor, you could go in there on the pretence of looking to buy some trousers after christmas, but you are repeatedly having the problem with the seams splitting and see what their professional opinion is

Probably more than you, needle-dick. Those pics were so funny, mate!
When you buy the brand named ones, why don't you go over the seams & re-sew them over the existing seam then they will be a bit stronger?
I think perhaps you need a slightly larger size OP.

And don't worry, nothin wrong with 17 stone of sexy manness
