Why do SKY want me back so badly?

I recently had SKY TV for 12 months on a half-price deal. I cancelled in December and ever since they keep sending me increasingly better offers to come back. The latest offer is 12 months half price (excluding HD Pack) plus they'll give me £100 towards my bill.

If I chose an entertainment pack and movies, I'd only have to pay about £140 for 12 months. As good as it seems, I'm gonna decline again as I just don't watch enough TV to justify the cost.

I've been thinking about getting a Freesat PVR, so that £140 would get me more than half-way to a 500gb Humax Foxsat.

That's where the best offers seem to be.

Fwiw, the return code I've to quote is SKYTVA in case anyone wants to see if they get the offer too. The offer ends 3rd July.

That's good. Do you get HD pack included?

    900-967 must be missing you.

Hi, thats the only thing thats not included as it was an extra £7 a month.. but get the majority of freeview HD channels like bbc/itv etc. TBH always forgot about HD when we had it. But we have still got the sky plus facility (pause, record etc) and its 19.50 for the whole 12 months :-) worth an ask. i rang cancellations twice before i got this deal - suppose it dependson who you speak to

They want you back because it costs them nothing to have you back on board, you already have dish/box etc so getting £240 a year from you is 100% better than getting nothing.

It's nothing personal OP, they just want your money.

    What an odd question. oO

Humax Freesat is fab. Better picture than Sky HD (and I've got both). I'm ditching Sky.

The OP question was rhetorical. Perhaps I should have said something like 'I wonder why SKY want me back so badly'. I guess that's the short straw of on-line communication.

Do you remember when you had sky, how you'd give them 'money' every month.

Well Sky like this money and want as much as possible. That way they can go to the shops and buy lots of sweeties.

They've had 3 calls to me leading up to my switch off on Thursday, including 1/2 for 12 months - but this time paying £10 for the HD sub. (that call was Thursday evening - and a promise to call back Friday evening which didn't happen.)

It's made the decision for cancelling and getting sky HD free by card sharing that much easier. (that and the fact I want to help their poor diet of too many sweeties.)

You know, I realllly want to chance my luck and ring up and cancel, just to see what happens.

Knowing my luck they will probably say 'yes miss maccy1, no problem we will cut your sky off from tomorrow'.

Not often I am stuck for words, but that would probably make me stutter a bit X)

They let me cancel with no offers so far. My sub ends Saturday and so far all they have offered s a newer sky hd box. Still, there's always Internet porn

As rhetorical as the question is, the answer is exceedingly obvious - what is the cost to Sky to each addition subscriber? Virtually nothing. They would probably rather have someone signed up for a tenner a month than not at all...

And what is the subsequent losses from people cancelling because they know they give 1/2 price offers to all and sundry? I suspect they are actually cutting off their noses in respect of this....not that I'm complaining as I would now never pay them more than 1/2 price.

Advice needed please, what is the best way to get around paying full subscription? Would not mind but I had been on free internet but I went over my allowance twice in 6 months so they have added £7.50 to my already increasing bill

When they tried to get me to sign up for phone and broadband, they told me it really was unlimited and that there were no restrictions at all. Have they told me porkies? I thought that sky anytime+ would mean unlimited was actually needed!

Sky broadband unlimited is unlimited but it costs £7.50 per month. You can get free broadband lite (their spelling not mine) for free with limited downloads. To be honest you can use the internet quite a lot as I only use for browsing, shopping etc, and this site of course.

Because some money is better than no money, even if they get a little bit out of you it's still something .
