    Why do we do this?

    Banned
OK I went into the local chippy here, and ordered for my family and the wife's parents. The total bill came to £17.30

After I had paid I saw the cup type drinks that you can get for kids, they cost around 20p each (those plastic cup drink thingies). Oh can I have a couple of your kids drinks, I asked the assistant. 'Oh they are reserved purely for the kids meals' came the reply. 'Oh well, you've done yourself out of a sale' came my reply!

Why do we do this to ourselves? Some jobsworth manager has told his employees 'these drinks are not for sale'. But this typical British salesmanship is pathetic.

I would have paid £1 for these drinks as my kids would have loved me for it, and the profit would have been in excess of 1000%.

It does my head in how we British cut our noses off to spite our face in the light of being a jobsworth

Because we are british. Stiff upper lip don't budge, stand still in the que and don't smile!!!!

    something are just bloody daft.

They probably buy 100 kids meal boxes and 100 drinks for example so can't sell one without the other

    spammed

correct-they have the boxes and the cups. you would be the cheesed off geezer when the jobs worth manager said "sorry we sold the cup for your kids drink to someone else-tough luck"....

but thats when something called stock control comes into play. You simply buy more cups. Its not particulary difficult to understand, even for a jobsworth

Whats wrong with that, the sales person did there job correctly.

he did????? so is the point of him being there then to refuse to sell certain products?? Oh and I know your a troll so i don't really know why I'm replying to this

They are full of rubbish anyway, good job you didn't buy them. Robinsons Fruit and Barley and Brita filtered water is the way forward ;-)

its part of a set deal (kids meal), unless your going to by the whole deal you dont get nothing. Pretty simple really.:)

so why is it difficult to buy more cups or am i missing something here? Are they special cups that come in a box with the meal or what? Surely they can just buy in extra cups for those not buying the kids meals

No its probably not difficult, however it seems that they simply had enough to cover the kids meals left therefore didnt want to sell any and be stuck with not being able to sell enough of their probably hugely succesful overpriced 'kids meals' the next day, there fore it makes more business sense to keep them for the meals instead of selling seperate.

I can understand that, but it would make more sense to also buy in more cups to sell seperate to the kids meals.

But anyway, I can't believe i am arguing about some 20p takeaway cups! I suppose this is what the internet is all about! :-D

heres ya scenario, boss..theres 29 cups left and 27 boxes for the kids meals, ...ok just sell 2 more of the drinks then keep the rest for the meals til we get more in.

Simple really, doesnt need this much resentment towards it lol

what happens if it's - two customers, one cup?
