Why the large increase in WD hard drive prices?

Been keeping my eyes on the western digital 2tb elements 3.5" external drives from various places, just noticed that all the western digital range have almost doubled in price, looked on amazon, ebuyer and scan.

the 1tb was around £40 ish, and the 2tb around £65

They have been around those prices give or take a few pounds for months.

    Am I missing something?

ahh right is some kind of flood in their factories, does this mean you get a wet drive for the extra money

Christ they have gone up a bit haven't they. There's a 2tb internal one on amazon for 150 quid!

Many hard disks are made in Thailand and there is terrible flooding there, reducing number of hard disk that can be made.

    Hence price rises
