Severe generalising: an internal wifi card that utilises the reasonble-sized internal antennae will usually out-perform a USB device, unless that USB device has its own external antenna which may make it impractical / inconvenient. Also consider that for the same power level the 5GHz spectrum has less range than the 2.4GHz spectrum, although by its very nature this can be compensated by the 5GHz spectrum being less prone to the congested traffic frequently seen in the 2.4GHz spectrum, especially in a densely populated area with many other wifi networks fighting for spectrum.

Check to see if your laptop has a whitelist for wifi cards before buying anything. Also how many antenna it has and does the wifi card also perform bluetooth.

as you said 2.4ghz has better range than5ghz.
maybe do a channel search and try re configuring things.

As Kester76 has said, you can pick up a cheap wifi card on eBay for £5.

    nice one thanks

It may only cost £3.44 to experiment:
I'll shuv finger in air and suggest possibility of replacing the card that is probably in your machine (Broadcom BCM94313HMGB) with a relatively common and currently supported 5GHz+BT4.0 item of Atheros AR5B22 via random £3.47 example of ebay.co.uk/itm…306
or £4.70 if you want a Samsung sticker ebay.co.uk/itm…122
I suggest that card cos it's also used in another Samsung lappy samsung.com/us/…ecs
Probably use the AR9462 W10 drivers from atheros-drivers.com/ath…tml or from other other manufacturers using same card such as Dell DW1901 at dell.com/sup…=NI
If you have BT issues, you may need to implement the pin51 workaround such as mentioned at techsupportforum.com/for…tml
Not checked any whitelist compatibility though...oO
