    Wii chipped

    Hi
Does anyone know where i can get my wii chipped?
    The cheaper the better.
I live in Northampton, so anything local would be great.
    cheers

i have used ghost2fitter before and there service was excellent. You will probably have to post it off though.

you can do yourself easy if its and older Wii. The new ones have e-poxy resin. Just get a wiikey 2 with clip.

I did one with the resin but took hours you have to be very careful. I used nitromors paint and varnish remover and cotton buds (q tips)

    Loads of tutorials online

There are also loads of tutorials on how to soft mod the wii for free. Supposed to be quite easy:thumbsup:

Why do you want it chipped as opposed to soft-modded?

and how do u softmod a new wii???

    new chips are super easy
    flattmod
just goes on the ribbon cable between the drive and the motherboard

Soft modding is so ridiculously easy and only takes about 30mins-1hr.
Even with no tech knowledge you can do it yourself for free, easiest if you have Zelda: The twilight Princess.

Just check for us, go into the options menu and find out what version you are running should say 3.1 3.2 3.3 3.4 or 4.0 if it is 4.0 then you cannot soft mod and a chip is your only option.

If you do have a console version

how do you check the firmware of a wii?

Go into the options menu of the wii and look on the right hand side there will be a number like 3.2e.
    That is your firmware version.

yeah, but even if its less that 4.0 you dont need zelda anymore, just the correct software and a couple of clicks;-)

Is it the same as bannerbomb? I know you don't need Zelda, but I have done two wii's using that method, and it's horrible.

I still use Zelda wherever possible.

    yvonne1174;5573304

you can softmod a 4.0 will ive done 3 its just a ball ache

I know you can but then again i and obviously you are fairly techy and confident in doing this stuff
cos bannerbomb is a nightmare aswell!

An explanation of how to see what firmware you are o has been given already.

No you don't have to becareful of what you play, the Wii does not force an update on you. Even if you accidentally updated the firmware, you can put it(mod) back on again.

You can still play online fine.

Yes you do. If you try and play a US or JAP ISO on your PAL Wii and you perform an update it'll brick the Wii.

You'd need to run it through wiibrickblocker first.

I know what you mean, but I don't think she/he meant trying to play incorrect games in her/his Wii.

    agreed

so with the modding there is always a solution to repair the wii, with this wiibrickblocker thing. bit like jail breaking the ipod , if you update you just re jailbreak ?

When its softmodded its still only able to play PAL ? and to play region free would it have to be chiped?
im learning so forgive me if it sounds a bit simple.

wiibrickblocker is a PC application that is used to delete the update from a game ISO, before burning to disc. It's not actually something you install onto the Wii to prevent any problems.

I'm pretty certain that nearly all of the launchers allow you to play games from other regions. You just need to make sure you don't install the updates from the foreign games.
