    Wii Fit......is it worth it?

    any good...seen any improvments using the Wii Fit.

    how much time do u need to dedicate to it and how often.

    My son uses it quite a bit. His pysiotherapist said that it would be really good for him to strengthen his muscles.
    I can see that it would work if you used it quite a bit I just havent found the time for myself to use it lately!

    As an excercise device, I would have to say that no, it is not. There's not enough of a worout there and it's too 'voluntary' and open-ended. There's no real excercise program created, it's up to you what and how much activity you do. As a game, it can be very entertaining but it makes it a very expensive game. It's sat in my house gathering dust for months.

    most people who bought one stopped using it after a while just because old habits die hard. I go in stages of using it, for example got on the other day and it had been 181 days since using it! awful!
    However its a good game and the excercises aren't that taxing-you just have fun really.

    Yes but its cheaper than a gym pass/personal trainer. it is up to the owner to get off their ass and do the workout, and if they dont want to, they don't have to. Thats the same principle as having an excercise bike in your room, that doesnt have an excercise program either but if you want to use it you will.

    It's pretty rubbish for exercise, but it makes a decent set of scales and it plots your weight which is quite handy.

    thanks guys, im back on Weight Watchers and restarting at gym....just thought it be something extra to help in evenings as go gym about 2-3 times for a class and dont go if kids are ill/on hols etc!!

    lol fair do's , get yourself out early morning when its quiet.

    seriously though it is the best way to lose fat.....want a routine that will guarantee weightloss? follow this..... count your calories daily and eat 2000 (dont have to go mad on fat free foods etc, just stay at 2000) on mon,wed and fri ...go for a 20 min run.... run to the point of where your breathing is at the point where it would be uncomfortable to talk....this means your body is probably in the 'fat burning zone'......keep doing it without cheating and watch the weigh absolutely fly off. :thumbsup:

    I've lost 7lbs since using it (about 2mths). I use it about twice a week for a 'proper' workout. There are a lot of easy, untaxing games on there but there is a lot of decent ones in aerobics/yoga which can help you tone.

    before you buy one.....imagine when your washing up at the sink.... feet still... twisting hips etc moving upper body to wash and rinse....same sort of movements you do on a wii fit lol but you dont expect to be losing fat washing up do you?

    actually there is evidence with using both wii fit and wii sports that use combined with a decent diet (by diet i mean what you eat as opposed to a "fad" diet) that it does aid weight loss.

    if you can dedicate atleast 30 mins per day to it.

    Meh, can't stand weightwatchers. Have been several times, and unless you want to make a 'life change' i,e. eat butternut chips for the rest of your life, the weight WILL go back on. They're a diet for holiday/yo-yo dieters. It's actually been proven recently that of the of people who join WW, 80% put back on all their weight and more after 2 years.

    My method is just smaller portions, set meals. We write a menu and do one shop a week so we don't end up in ASDA bakery reduced section nightly buying cakes. Treats in moderation, but what comparison is a bar of chocolate to that top you wanna fit in? none.

    Best of luck, don't waste the gym membership, lots of people pay but don't go. And get yourself a wii fit, they kids will love it too and the whole family can get involved.

    being a woman i have to eat 1500kcals. and yeah i know i been WW a few times before and failed at it..but i did lose once on it... i need to fear the woman weighing me in a weeks time otherwise i just dont shift the weight and also i feel i have some zero point foods..so do tend to stock up more on veggies...so far its working...lost 4.5lbs first week.... i know its mostly water...but its in the right direction.....done so many diets and attepmts at healthy eating its got me nowhere.... but got a family wedding in july to aim towards so being super strict should help!

    haha nightly trips to asda bakery!! i did daily trips to pick up a bag of salad or something and a choc bar a few yrs back...dont do that but do tend to snack at night..... i agree its life changes... hence paul mckenna's diet worked super...eat whatever just whenever ur hungry and stop when ur full...also eat slow... but again willpower sucks with me.a rigid system should help..... i hope!!

    and thankfully im not too bad at gym....as a friend goes with me so if i start slacking i get phone calls asking where i am!! hehe

    physically losing weight is sooo easy to do, its the battle in the mind that is the hard part depends how much you want it thats all...you want the cakes or a better body? choose and live with it i say but people moaning they cant lose weight (unless have a medical condition if so see a doc) are laughable

    I too would advise against Weight Watchers in general. However going weekly to something like this does add routine and may make it easier, if its working thats great.

    Losing water is not good, as its easily put on again. i mean you can lose 30kg in one day if you really wish by a process of hyper-dehydration (people involved in weight category sports do this to weigh in and rehydrate after)

    The best way to lose weight is not by any kind of fad diets.
    Slow release carbs in the morning and eat little and often to keep you feeling full.
    Also you would be required to cut down on fats in your diet and any excessive carbs (switch out the larger portions of potato/rice/pasta for a smaller portion with some other vegetables or a salad, switching from white to wholegrain bread would also benefit). But a major change in diet is NOT neccisary (unless you are eating total crap all the time).

    This also MUST be supplemented with regular exercise. i would recommend swiming to start with, its relaxing and weight supporting if you are intoducing yourself to exercise. i mean exercise of 30 mins - 1 hour 3 times a week would do you nicely.

    There are other little tricks like dont go shopping whilst hungry aswell as you are statistically more likely to buy rubbishy food.

    This would be my blanket advice to weight loss as a Sports Scientist, obviously i dont know you or your situation / goals. but this is a good starting point

    You dont need to cut out crbs completely, just make the portions smaller. theres a saying that goes "fat burns in a carbohydrate flame" so cut down not out. Small changes like switch to grilling over frying also will give big rewards in the long term.

    Another tip: LOW FAT AND FAT FREE in general are a massive con. unless its things like mayonaise etc where things are genuinely reduced. Avoid pre prepared/packaged foods that claim low fat etc, in fact skip them all as a whole if you can. Things like chips can be made in the oven with just some potatoes cut thin with a drizzle of olive oil, sprinkle of salt and pepper.
    Also check out using sweet potatoes, they make a surprising alternative to normal ones and make for quite a nice treat if you have a bit a sweet tooth.

    it may be a little more work in the kitchen, but you will reap the rewards.

    thanks jetpac. thats how i was making chips on slimming world (yes ive done all the diets!!) and they were nice...the butternut squash ones wernt too bad... pretty sweet as well.... i use the spray oil thingy and sprinkle some cajun spice over top so they taste a lil nice..works well.

    defo agree low fat etc is lame.... noticed it when was looking at difference in points between ben jerry ice cream and frozen yoghurt..... same points..... ridiculous!!
