Hi there, I have recently bought my 8 yr old a wii U and I am pretty clueless with what games I should purchase and what kids are into. I have heard that animal crossing and thus Disney infinity stuff us quite good but when I search for them there are so many options such as happy homes, festival etc. can anyone tell me if I need to buy a few different games to get started on it or if there is a set that I should buy? any help is greatly appreciated x

Disney infinity is a good idea for kids especially where it's dropping to quite a low price these days. You just need a basic Wii U starter kit and that should last quite a few hours but the other packages are worth looking in to aswell. I'd recommend trying a lego game, Mario game, Mario kart, Mario party, and once he's got the hang of video games a bit more, wind waker was a game I enjoyed a lot at his age.

New Super Mario Bros.
Mario Kart 8
Just Dance

Lego City is a really great game and exclusive to the Wii u. It has been released as a 'selects' title so can be had for £17 or under. Disney infinity is great and as already mentioned can be picked up cheaply - I have a blast playing that with my son.

Animal crossing wise for the Wii u you only have the festival game which I believe is rated poorly - I have never played it so may well be entertaining enough for your child. There is a animal crossing Wii game which can be bought for little over £6 on eBay - worth a go if it's something he shows an interest in.

Nintendoland is another cheap game full of mini games - Mario chase and luigi mansion games have been fantastic family fun.

Oh and check out Splatoon as well!

Thank you so much you two. With the Disney infinity, could you point me in the right direction for what kind of starter kit I should buy please?

Get any of the Lego games. They are all awesome!

My 6 year old loves Super Mario 3D World, and so do I! Yoshi's Wooly World is worth a look too as well as the suggestions above.

I would personally suggest going with the 3.0 starter kit - that way you know you can buy ANY figure that appeals to your kid and it will work in toy box mode (they can make their own levels or add to standard ones - it's really limitless play. Great for their imagination). Be aware they are switching off the servers in the near future but this will not stop you from playing it.

If you need any other help feel free to PM me

Oh and minecraft may be worth investigating as well

The only problem with Disney Infinity is the high possibility of needing to buy more and more of the figures to please your kid.
Though if you have the money, just ignore me.

Maybe for the starter packs. Separate figures would probably depend on popularity.

My kids (7 & 9) love Splatoon
