Wii U, is it worth picking one up?

Well with the new nintendo switch out and no more wii u's being manufactured is there any point in getting a wii u? I did enjoy smash bros on the wii and ive been itching to play bayonetta 2 and the new zelda looks pretty good so is it worth buying the system for only a handful of games?

the big price drop is now, so you could always get one second hand, play those games then decide if it's worth keeping. I'm keeping mine for the family console

If you are considering it then you clearly want one! Pick one up cheap enough secondhand and it will definitely be worth it. My guess is their value will stick now so even if you sold it again down the line you should get your money back or even more.

If the games appeal and you can afford it, yes - the system has a solid library of *very* high-quality exclusives. The overall size of the library isn't as extensive as you'll get from the PS4 or Xbox One and third-party support is limited, but I could easily reel off 20+ must-have games for it that you'll not find elsewhere.

And if you're not getting a Switch, it's damn-near essential as the only other way to play what's arguably the "game of the generation" (if not longer!), Breath of the Wild.

I was fortunate enough to grab one of the smyths £150 bundles and I kept it in the box for a week whilst I decided between that and a launch switch. I kept it and I'm really pleased that I did! I've had hours of play from it already. I know that I'll get a switch at some point, maybe a few months down the line when it's built up more of a catalogue, but for now I'm making my way through the many great titles the wii u has to offer. Buy one and get pikmin 3!

Yes many great games. most on select... great console

I just picked one up second hand and have been really pleased. Great little console and such a step up from the Wii. Not managed to lay my hands on a copy of BotW yet, but am loving Mario kart and 3D World. Well worth a purchase for the established catalogue

I did exactly the same but I bought a switch aswell. I have to say I prefer the WII U all things being considered. The homebrew scene on the wii u is superb. The switch is prob worth getting nearer Christmas time.

I've actually slated the wii u without owning one for years, until now. I get it, I get why Nintendo do what they do so well. Get a "Pro" controller for the Wii U, it makes for a better option over the wii u gamepad (battery life!).

I would recommend super mario 3d world, donkey kong tropical freeze, pikmin 3, bayonetta 2, zelda breath of the wild, yoshis woolly world, mario kart 8, smash wii u and xenoblade chronicles x.

I love mine for the fact i can play it whilst having something else on the TV at the same time! Got zelda last weekend too. Epic!

Black Wii U Premium Console with ZombiU and Wii U Pro Controller only £799.99 from Game/Atronica seller, I wonder if they've had any bites yet
